Protect yourself this flu season with a flu vaccination

Older adults are at higher risk of serious complications from influenza (flu), including hospitalisation and severe illness. Getting your annual flu vaccine is one of the most effective ways to stay protected during the Australian flu season.

If you are 65 years or older, it is strongly recommended that you book your flu vaccination early to ensure protection before flu cases increase.

The influenza vaccine for over 65s is specifically designed to provide stronger immune protection, helping reduce the risk of severe flu and related complications.

We offer cell-based influenza vaccines as standard, supporting high-quality, patient-centred care focused on safety, effectiveness, and better health outcomes.

Don’t delay. Book your flu shot today to protect yourself and those around you.
Book your flu vaccination online or walk in. https://ap1.hubs.ly/y0K4S-0

When is the best time to get your flu shot in Australia?

The best time to get your flu vaccine in Australia is between March and May, before the influenza season reaches its peak.

The flu vaccination provides the strongest protection within the first 3 to 4 months, helping protect you during the height of the Australian flu season, which typically peaks around August.

Getting your influenza vaccine early is one of the most effective ways to reduce your risk of seasonal flu, minimise symptoms, and help protect your family and community.

Don’t wait for flu cases to rise. Book your flu shot early to stay protected.

We offer cell-based influenza vaccines as standard, supporting high-quality, patient-centred care with a focus on safety and effectiveness.

Hepatitis C is a viral infection that affects the liver and the good news is, it is now curable with modern treatment. Many people have no symptoms for years, which means testing is the key to early diagnosis, treatment and preventing long-term liver damage.

If you’ve ever had potential exposure (including past blood transfusions, tattoos or injecting equipment), a simple blood test can provide clarity and peace of mind.

Did you know alcohol is now classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer — the same category as to***co smoke and asbestos? This means there’s strong evidence that alcohol increases the risk of several cancers, including breast, bowel and liver cancer.

The good news? Even small changes, such as cutting back or taking a short break, can lead to better sleep, improved mood, more energy and long-term health benefits.

Some people choose February as a natural time to reset, including taking part in FebFast, which supports alcohol harm prevention and mental health initiatives run by Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education.

If you’ve been thinking about your drinking habits, or noticing changes in sleep, mood or energy, your GP can provide confidential, non-judgemental support.

02/01/2026

At the start of a New Year, it’s very common to start thinking a little more seriously about your health and wellbeing. The fact is, if you are thinking this way, you’re not alone: January accounts for roughly 12% of all gym memberships started in a year, and search interest for “weight loss” and healthy living typically peaks in the first weeks of January as people set New Year’s resolutions. According to Deakin University (2025), around 74% of Australians report making a New Year’s resolution, with health, fitness and wellbeing among the most common focus areas. This isn’t just motivation, it’s a measurable pattern.

However, weight and exercise are just some components of your overall health, and we encourage a holistic view on health overall. Weight management is more than a number on the scale. Small, sustainable changes in eating, movement and daily habits can make a real difference without strict diets or guilt.

Discover practical tips for gentle, long-term weight management, including understanding your BMI, balancing energy in and out, and focusing on health beyond the scale.

We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the violent events that unfolded at Bondi Beach yesterday, 14 December.

Many of those impacted are our patients, neighbours, colleagues and friends. Our thoughts are with all those affected, the individuals and families whose lives have been forever changed, those who witnessed these events, and the first responders who acted with courage and care in the face of danger.

This incident has been deeply distressing, not only for those directly involved, but for the broader community, who are left feeling shaken and vulnerable.

We have supported the wellbeing of the Sydney community for many years, and we stand with those we serve during this difficult time. Our doors remain open.

The NSW Government has made information and support resources available for individuals, families and communities affected by these events:
