The kids in Palestine keep me awake at night. I have never had such a deep feeling of helplessness. What these beautiful innocent children are enduring is beyond belief. Moni from Wyld Spaces in Milton has started this amazing initiative, to help bring yoga to these kids. A moment of peace, to take a breath, to close their eyes in a moment of calm. You can help. I just want to throw out a quick post to say how grateful I am to those who show up to class, especially the Thursday night Yin class. In my 14 years of living in Jervis Bay, this has been the coldest winter.

Thank you, I know it's hard hauling yourself to a yoga class in winter. It can be hard for me, too, especially on a Thursday night when I want to get the bra off and snuggle in ๐Ÿ˜‚. You beautiful Yogis make it so worthwhile, we have a beautiful community of trust, safety, laughter, and reverence for this beautiful practice we call Yoga

How crazy has the wind been ๐Ÿ˜ฎ bring in the cold and dry winter, and it's likely to disturb the balance of Vata. Symptoms can be anxiety, overwhelme, spacey or scattered thoughts, dry skin, excessive talking, constipation, tight sore body, disturbance with sleep and more.

What is Vata? I hear you ask ๐Ÿค”. Vata is a Dosha. In Ayurveda, there are three Doshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. All three are made up of one or two of the five elements. Vata consists of air and space. We can talk about the Dosha's another time.

How do we bring balance back to the Vata Dosha?
Ground, ground, and ground a little more.
Food is thy medicine. Warm soups, dahl, casseroles, root vegetables, salty, sweet, and sour foods. Sip on warm tea's, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon.
Stay out of the wind, stay warm.
Abhyanga - self body massage with black sesame oil.
Pranayama / breath work, slow down the breath.
Meditation
Yin yoga

Talking about Yin yoga ๐Ÿ˜€ join me Thursday at 6.00pm. Husky Hall for a 90 min Yin class working with the kidney and urinary bladder meridians.

The hall is toastie warm, the lights are low, the music soothing. No where to be, no where to go, just 90 minutes to be with your body, breath and spirit.

In the last few weeks, we have been touching on Chakra's. We have touched on Anahata (heart) and Muladhara (root).

This week, we will touch on Svadhisthana, meaning sweetness. Its location is our lower abdomen and relates to the element water, and its colour is orange.

What are Chakra's? They are believed to be energy centres in the body described as spinning wheel's of energy. They are believed to affect physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Why am I only touching on the Chakra's in class? Because they are a big topic with so many health and energetic benefits. Trying to push all the information into a 90-minute class is not helpful and can actually be confusing. ALSO, they can feel a little whoo, whoo, lol.

I'm in the process of putting a 4/5 class program together on the Chakra's, so if it's something that resonates with you stay tuned, maybe even send me a message to let me know you are interested
