Another beautiful arrival for the Women’s Health Circle!! 💙💙

We often take for granted the facilities we have here in Townsville, while some of our patients travel from as far away as the Northern Territory to access private maternity care and deliver privately! This journey can bring challenges that go far beyond the normal medical appointment, these include extra financial costs, distance, lack of family support, accommodation and transport logistics.

These added pressures can make pregnancy even more difficult, particularly when frequent monitoring and appointments are needed. We are grateful to play a small part in helping make the process a little easier and supporting our patients throughout their pregnancy journey.

Day 2 Mornington Island.

From wheeling in the portable ultrasound machine, setting up communications and Starlink satellite connectivity, through to preparing clinical spaces and positioning beds — a significant amount of work goes into establishing each Care on Country outreach clinic in remote communities like Mornington Island.

The goal is simple: delivering high-quality maternal fetal medicine services in community, with care standards consistent with those expected in tertiary medical facilities.

Care on Country helps bring specialist pregnancy care closer to home — supporting earlier intervention, continuity of care, and reducing the need for women to travel away from Country wherever possible.
