Have you visited Tamarind Yoga lately?

This small boutique yoga studio in the heart of Ingham, has been under new management since July last year. Six weekly classes offer choices for both young and mature students - whether a beginner or experienced practitioner. My own practice for the past 20+ years has served me through many ups and downs - physically, mentally and emotionally - more than any other modality I've explored. It drives my passion to help others build a safe, sustainable and lifelong practice.

Wondering if the studio is open for Easter? Definitely - all classes are running as normal !! We still have lots of openings for: Wednesday Vin Yin at 6pm - an easy flow class followed by some relaxing stretches; and Thursday Slow and Strong at 9am - no advanced poses but we do hold for time.

All classes at the studio incorporate passive (non-active) poses to soothe the nervous system and calm the mind. I aim for students to leave classes feeling relaxed and restored. The current timetable stays pinned to the top of this page :)

This is a post outside the usual yoga content but if you, or someone you know, is supporting a person living with dementia I encourage you to register for the series below.

I supported my own Mum when she was living with dementia and hence have direct experience of how complicated and confusing the condition can be. PAC materials gave me the understanding that wasn't available through other resources and it is the awareness of the value of their materials that has seen me pursue certification so I can offer that to others ..

---------------------------------------------------------

I am a Positive Approach to Care Dementia Educator and currently co-hosting a Care Partner Support Series (CPSS) to support family members and friends of people living with dementia.

The five week CPSS is grounded in Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Dementia Care model. Teepa is a world renowned dementia specialist working in the field for more than 40 years. Participants gain knowledge, practical tools, emotional support and connection.

The format for sharing involves:
🫶 Live 1.5 hour zoom sessions with all participants - every Monday evening for five consecutive weeks,
🫶 Videos and conversations that provide insight into the experience of dementia from the perspective of the person living with the condition,
🫶 Information about brain changes within dementia that inspires compassion and curiosity,
🫶 Strategies for how to take that knowledge and translate it into change – building and maintaining relationships centred around dignity, respect and understanding,
🫶 Connections to ongoing support and resources.

This is the first year this is being offered nationally in Australia by two Australian PAC certified Dementia Educators. The next series starts Monday evening on 13 April. Registrations are still available.

NEW VIN YIN CLASS
Hi everyone - the Wednesday 6pm class has had a content change. It's now going to be VIN YIN ❤️

You might be wondering what that means. It's half an hour of active asanas (poses) - but suited to Beginners as well as experienced practitioners who want a milder class. A bit of cat/cow on the mat leading to some basic standing poses before we make our way back down to the floor. The second half hour follows with all Yin asanas. Yin asanas are long held passive poses on the floor - lots of stretching and breathing.

The best way to find out more is to come along and give it a try. Just a reminder that there's no need to book - just turn up. Most people bring their own mat but everything is supplied (including a mat if you don't have one) ❤️

CURRENT CLASS TIMETABLE .. this new timetable for 2026 has a couple of changes.

Restorative Yin on Tuesdays is at the new time of 5.30pm. A new General Yoga class has started on Wednesdays at 6pm in response to requests. Thursday morning Slow & Strong at 9.30am is still low in numbers - but I'm persisting because this is a great class. We don't do advanced poses but definitely one for those with previous yoga experience looking to build more strength. If you aren't concerned by weight bearing in your wrists or knees then I encourage you to give it a try.

Wednesday 6pm is listed as General Yoga .. but in reality it will evolve in response to who turns up. The sequence so far is to start with some gentle Yin (passive stretches) before moving into guided active poses. I offer plenty of instruction for anyone new to yoga or those just wanting to take it easy and revisit the basics. We finish the class with plenty of time for breathwork, relaxation and meditation to finish off.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone .. I hope it has started well for you ❤️

My plans to reopen the studio on Tuesday 13th haven't changed but I will be keeping an eye on the weather - along with everyone else - and will schedule on the side of caution given my difficulty in getting to the studio during flood.

If the weather is looking dicey please check in on this page to be sure I haven't posted any cancellations. If you are on the eList you'll get an email on the day.

Take care everyone ❤️

WEDNESDAY EVENING CLASSES

Hi everyone .. in the last month I've had regular requests for a later Wednesday class by those who can't make the one at 4.30. This has long standing regular attendees and I will keep it as is BUT .. I've had an idea ..
. I could offer a second class starting at 6pm - running for one hour. I wont be starting this until the New Year. I'll definitely put up a post up here when it's happening - and update the timetable graphic both here and on the website.

Send me a message if this will work.
