Did you know that nbn Australia provides free community Wi-Fi services at the Ingham Showground and Halifax Hall in disaster or emergency situations!
If you are struggling with your mobile service or internet connectivity, you can go to the site and turn your mobile on to Wi-Fi calling.
That way you can browse the internet and make calls for free.

Do you need sandbags as part of your preparation?

Council have multiple locations around the Lower Herbert where sand and sandbags have been deployed for residents:

📍Cordelia – Carr's Farm

📍 Halifax – Lancini's Farm Shed at Scott Street (sorry locals it's not near the old servo, apologies for the confusion)

📍 Lucinda – Lions Park, Patterson Parade (near the Coastguard)

📍 Taylors Beach – Progress Park

📍Forrest Beach – Near water tower and skate park

🔨 Residents must bring their own shovels to fill sandbags.

⚠️ MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT GLENEAGLE AND ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE SATURDAY MORNING

Moderate to heavy rainfall since early last week has caused river level rises across the Herbert catchment, with minor flooding possible along the upper Herbert River at Gleneagle from Saturday morning.

Further moderate to heavy rainfall since Friday afternoon along the lower Herbert River has resulted in renewed river level rises at Abergowrie Bridge, where minor flooding is possible from Saturday morning.

Further moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast for the remainder of the weekend, with renewed river level rises possible across the catchment. This situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.

A Flood Watch is current for adjoining catchments.



🌊 Herbert River to Nash’s Crossing

Minor flooding is possible along the Herbert River at Gleneagle.

No observations are currently available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, river levels are expected to be below the minor flood level and steady.

The Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead may reach around the minor flood level (4.50 m) Saturday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.

Minor flooding is possible along the Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge.

The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 5.62 m and rising, below the minor flood level.

The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge may reach around the minor flood level (6.00 m) Saturday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
