They say it takes a village — but sometimes, you have to create your own ✨🤍

Your village might look like:

🫶🏻 Family and friends who offer a hand or a heart
🫶🏻 A midwife, GP, or postpartum doula who truly see you
🫶🏻 A physio or counsellor supporting your recovery
🫶🏻 A meal train organised by loved ones (or by you — because that’s okay too)
🫶🏻 Nourishing meals from — available through Mother Me — when cooking feels impossible
🫶🏻 The cleaner who helps you reclaim time and headspace
🫶🏻 A mobile hairdresser who helps you make time for self-care
🫶🏻 The pet groomer who takes one task off your list

Motherhood—and life—have a way of stretching us in every direction, sometimes leaving us feeling like we’re not measuring up. But the truth is, we’re always learning, always growing, and always doing our best in the moment we’re in.

It’s been a big week (or few weeks) for us both, and amongst the chaos, this is what we’re reminding ourselves:

The Power of Water Immersion in Labour 💪🏻✨

April is Caesarean Awareness Month—a time to honour the strength, courage, and stories of mothers who birthed their babies via caesarean.

As midwives, we are privileged to witness the beauty and power of caesarean births. They are no less sacred, no less powerful, and no less worthy of celebration.

There is no “right” way to give birth.

UNDERSTANDING DYSPHORIC MILK ENJECTION REFLEX (D-MER) – AMY’S STORY

D-MER is a condition where intense, negative emotions suddenly occur right before or during the milk letdown. These feelings are involuntary, often intense, and typically last only a few minutes.

An umbilical cord tie is a small, often decorative tie used to secure the umbilical cord after a baby is born. These can be used instead of the more traditional plastic clamp.

Umbilical cord ties can be made from materials like cotton or other natural fibers, and are designed to gently secure the cord, allowing it to naturally dry and fall off on its own.
