These same techniques can be applied to any area of the body. Always start off gentle and increase pressure gradually as needed. Utilising scar tapes and silicone scar gels will also help improve overall scar texture/appearance and help keep the scar hydrated while healing.

Before starting check list:
* Get the all clear from your doctor to start scar massage
* Make sure the scar is healed and completely closed
* Make sure surrounding skin isn’t damaged or irritated

Benefits of massaging scar tissue:
* Desensitise the scar area
* Help improve scar pliability
* Help prevent or improve scar adherence to underlying tissues
* Improve the scar aesthetically
