Abdominal acupuncture is about more than just digestion.
In Chinese Medicine, the tummy is considered the centre of energy, circulation, hormones and nervous system balance. When this area becomes stagnant or weakened, symptoms can show up throughout the whole body.

Tummy treatments may help support digestion, bloating, IBS symptoms, reflux, constipation, stress, fatigue, sleep, hormonal balance and overall wellbeing. 🌿

Many people find abdominal acupuncture deeply calming, grounding and relaxing — helping the body shift into a better state for healing and recovery.

✨ A space to reset, restore, and realign ✨

Regular acupuncture isn’t just something you come to when things go wrong, it’s a powerful way to maintain your health and keep your body functioning at its best.

By supporting the body’s natural balance, acupuncture can help:
• Improve sleep quality and help you feel more rested
• Regulate digestion and reduce bloating or discomfort
• Ease muscle tension and reduce pain
• Support energy levels and stress resilience

Think of it as a tune-up for your body, keeping everything flowing smoothly before issues build up.

Consistency is where the magic happens 🤍

Those soft, pale-to-light pink cup marks on the lower back tell a really important story in Chinese medicine 👇

When cupping marks are lighter in colour, diffuse, and fade quickly, we often think of deficiency.

✨ From a TCM perspective:
Lower back pain with these types of marks commonly reflects Kidney deficiency (often Kidney Qi, Yang or Jing). The Kidneys govern the bones and lower back, so when they’re undernourished, the area can feel dull, achy, weak, and better with rest or warmth rather than sharp or fixed pain.

🌀 Instead of strong stagnation, this presentation suggests:
• Lack of nourishment to the lumbar region
• Reduced circulation due to deficiency
• Possible underlying fatigue, low energy, or chronic overuse

🔥 The cups here are gently drawing blood and Qi to the surface, encouraging circulation without over-taxing the body — exactly what deficiency patterns need.

🌿 How we support this pattern:
Acupuncture + gentle cupping
Warming techniques (like moxa)
Herbal medicine to tonify Kidney Qi/Yang
Rest, nourishment, and lifestyle support

💡 Think of it less like “breaking up blockage” and more like “filling the tank” so the body can heal and support the spine properly.”

🌿 Build Your Qi, Strengthen Your Foundation 🌿

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi is your body’s vital energy, the force that powers everything from digestion and immunity to mental clarity and daily stamina.

When Qi is strong, we feel energised, focused, and resilient.
When it’s deficient, we may experience fatigue, bloating, poor appetite, loose stools, low immunity, or that heavy, sluggish feeling.

✨ Qi nourishing foods that strengthen the Spleen and Stomach:

🥕 Warm, earthy vegetables like carrots, sweet potato, squash
→ Gently tonify Qi and support digestion

🍲 Soups, stews & slow-cooked meals
→ Easy to digest, allowing the Spleen to extract more Qi from food

🌾 Legumes & grains like lentils, chickpeas, quinoa
→ Build sustained energy and support Qi production

🧄 Aromatics like garlic, ginger, fennel, cinnamon
→ Warm the middle, move stagnation, and enhance digestive fire

🍄 Functional foods like shiitake mushrooms & fermented foods
→ Strengthen immunity and support the gut

🥚 Eggs & simple proteins
→ Provide foundational nourishment without taxing digestion

💡 In TCM, digestion is everything.
If the Spleen is weak, even the best foods won’t transform into Qi effectively.

✨ Prioritise warm, cooked meals
✨ Eat regularly and mindfully
✨ Avoid excess cold/raw foods if energy is low

Because when your Qi is strong…
⚡ Energy becomes steady
🌿 Digestion feels light and efficient
🛡 Immunity strengthens
🧠 And your mind feels clear and focused

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, something like neck pain and grey hair aren’t seen as separate issues, they often share the same root. The Kidneys store our Essence (Jing), which nourishes the bones, spine, and hair, while the Liver provides the Blood that keeps our tendons supple and our hair vibrant. When these become depleted through stress, ageing, or overwork, we can start to see signs like stiffness and pain through the neck, along with hair losing its colour and vitality. Over time, this lack of nourishment can also lead to poor circulation in the channels, creating tension and discomfort that just doesn’t shift. Treatment focuses on restoring what’s been depleted, nourishing the Kidneys and Liver, supporting Blood, and improving flow through the neck, so the body can regain strength, movement, and resilience from the inside out. 🌿
