We welcome Dr Shadi Emamisadr to Tamar Skin Clinic.
Shadi has appointments available on Fridays from 4th July, and Tuesdays from 5th August. Appointments can be made online via our website https://tamarskinclinic.com.au or phoning the clinic and speaking with our reception staff.

A few words from Shadi:

I graduated in 2009 and relocated from Western Australia to Launceston in 2020, where I continue to practice as a general practitioner and have obtained my fellowship in 2023.
Throughout my medical career in Australia, I have encountered a significant number of patients with skin cancer.
Given that approximately two out of three Australians are diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime, and that GPs often serve as the first line of diagnosis and treatment, I developed a strong interest in this area of medicine.
To enhance my skills and better serve my patients, I pursued further education through the Skin Cancer College, obtaining certificates in both Dermoscopy and Skin Cancer Medicine. These qualifications have equipped me with the expertise to detect and manage skin cancers more effectively within general practice.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy gardening and spend much of my free time working in my vegetable garden, which provides both relaxation and a personal connection to nature.

Skin cancer checks are available with Karen our Dermoscopist.
Karen has 12 years of skin experience and is an experienced Dermoscopist – someone who can diagnose skin cancers through thorough skin checks and body photography.
She is not a doctor or a nurse, she is a Dermal Therapist and is trained and qualified in the field of Dermoscopy.
She will refer any abnormal findings to one of the Doctors, who then decides on management.
Online bookings can be made via our website www.tamarskinclinic.com.au or you can phone the Clinic and speak with our reception staff.

As we head into summer, we encourage everyone to enjoy our outdoors lifestyle in a sun safe way. However, we are also aware that summer can also be a particularly anxious time for those who have been impacted by melanoma.

Earlier this year, MIA and Melanoma Patients Australia (MPA) hosted a community webinar series for melanoma patients and carers.

The first webinar in the series was 'Sun protection after melanoma: Living well'. We hope this webinar provides some helpful advice for the melanoma community this summer. You can watch this webinar, as well as the rest of the three part series, here > https://bit.ly/4iCtNva

This webinar was presented by Dr Lisa Gomes (MIA senior clinical psychologist), Dr Lisa Abbott (MIA dermatologist) & Mary-Anne Oliver (MPA community member).
