One of my key ways of working with clients: we are not here to get rid of emotions like sadness, anger, guilt and fear. We figure out what these emotions are telling us, and what action steps to take in response to them that are both useful and empowering. Trying to get rid of these emotions often leaves people feeling dissatisfied, and disappointed in themselves every time those emotions do their job and return.
