It felt important to share this reel.

It features people speaking from the heart, simply asking for compassion. Not policy debates, not paperwork, not processes—just compassion and understanding for people who rely on the system to live safely and with dignity.

Whatever changes are ahead, it’s worth remembering that behind every plan is a real person, a family, and a life that depends on stability and care. Small changes in policy can have very real impacts on everyday wellbeing.

If anything, this is a reminder that conversations about the NDIS should stay grounded in humanity first.

Neale Daniher is the definition of courage, resilience and leadership.

What he has done for the fight against MND while facing the disease himself is nothing short of extraordinary. Through strength, humility and determination, he has inspired millions of Australians to keep showing up, keep fighting and never lose hope.

His legacy goes far beyond football — it’s about humanity, compassion and making a difference for others.

Thank you, Neale, for inspiring a nation. 💙

Responsive Support Solutions recently had the privilege of attending the inaugural Huntington’s Australia Conference in Adelaide. It was an incredibly valuable experience, giving us the opportunity to learn more about supporting individuals and families throughout their Huntington’s journey.

Huntington’s Disease remains a rare condition that deserves greater awareness, understanding, and community support. Conferences like this are so important in helping providers, families, and professionals come together to share knowledge, experiences, and advocacy.

We were also honoured to witness some of Adelaide’s iconic landmarks lighting up in support of Huntington’s awareness — a powerful reminder of the importance of bringing visibility to this rare disease and the people and families impacted by it. 💙

At Responsive Support Solutions, we specialise in supporting people living with progressive neurological conditions, and we are always committed to expanding our knowledge, improving the quality of care we provide, and helping raise awareness for conditions that are often misunderstood or overlooked.

We are grateful to Huntington’s Australia for hosting such an informative and inspiring event, and we look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and support our community.

The Growing Space has shared a timeline of the proposed NDIS changes, and one of the key concerns is whether these changes are being rolled out too quickly.

For people living with disability, the NDIS isn’t just a system — it’s everyday support, independence, and quality of life. Big changes to how it works can feel overwhelming, especially if there isn’t enough time to properly understand what’s changing or how it might affect your plan and supports.

While improvements to the NDIS are important, they need to be done in a way that puts participants first — with realistic timeframes, proper guidance, and a focus on maintaining stability and choice. Let’s make sure everyone’s voice is heard.

We understand that many people may have questions following the recent announcement from the Minister about proposed changes to the NDIS.

Full details are still being released, but below is a bit of a summary of what has been announced so far and what it may mean.

Key changes

1. Eligibility and reassessments

• The NDIS will focus more on a person’s daily support needs, not just their diagnosis
• This means they will look at how a person manages everyday life
• Over time, some participants may be asked to go through updated assessments, especially at plan reviews
• Getting into the NDIS is expected to become more structured, with less focus on diagnosis alone

2. Scheme growth and participant numbers

• The government wants NDIS growth to slow to about 2% per year
• This is part of making the scheme more sustainable long term
• It is expected that there may be fewer people in the NDIS over time compared to earlier predictions (around 160,000 fewer by 2030)
• This does NOT mean people are being removed straight away — it relates to slower entry and tighter rules over time

3. Stronger rules for access

• New participants will need to meet clearer and more consistent criteria
• The focus is on people with significant and ongoing disability support needs
• Decisions are expected to be more consistent across Australia

4. Funding and plan flexibility

• Plans are likely to have clearer funding categories
• This may mean less flexibility to move money between different types of supports
• There will be a stronger focus on making sure funding is used for disability-related supports

5. Thriving Kids program

• A new program called Thriving Kids is being developed for children with developmental concerns
• This program will support children outside of the NDIS
• Some children who may have used the NDIS in the past may instead access support through this program or other services
• More details are still to come

6. More checks and evidence

• More information or reports may be needed when asking for supports
• There will be stronger checks to make sure funding is used correctly
• Plan decisions are expected to be more consistent

What this means for you now

• There are no immediate changes to your current plan or supports
• You can keep using your supports as normal
• Changes will happen slowly over time
• Future plan reviews may look a bit different with new rules and processes

We know this can feel worrying, we are going to provide you with updates and information as soon as they are announced.
