Ipswich Hospice Care - Queensland

Ipswich Hospice Care - Queensland Compassionate care, every step of the way. Built in 1995 by the community for the community.

Ipswich Hospice offers quality palliative care in our seven-bed home-like facility, plus family support and bereavement services through Hilda's House. Since 1995, Ipswich Hospice has provided high-quality palliative care for terminally ill people, their families and bereaved people in our community. We create personalised end-of-life care and bereavement support in a nurturing, home-like environment. Our grief and bereavement support services are delivered in Hilda's House, a beautiful Queenslander located next door. Services include one-to-one support, adult and children's groups, and community education. As a registered charitable organisation, we are proudly community owned and managed, serving the Ipswich and West Moreton region in South East Queensland. Ipswich Hospice acknowledges the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul people, Traditional Custodians of the land, and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Hilda's House is now home to 2 lovely leather lounge suites, which will be used by our counselling clients.

Ipswich Hospice was a grateful recipient of one of the Brothers Leagues Club Ipswich Brothers Helping Others Grants which allowed us to purchase these lounges.

Harvey Norman, Booval, kindly gave us a large discount on the lounge suites, which enabled us to apply for the grant.

Thank you to both organisations - our counselling clients are enjoying the comfortable new additions to Hilda's House.

On World Kindness Day, our CEO/DON Gail Rogers, was invited to address the district CWA members at the Glamorgan Vale Community Hall.

World Kindness Day, from the World Kindness Movement, is a universal awareness day about promoting the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world, and is celebrated on the 13th of November every year.

It is a reminder that all simple acts of kindness have power and that together, we can all work to create a kinder world. Every kind act, even the smallest one, creates a ripple effect, that is bigger than you could ever imagine.

Last week we said farewell to 2 wonderful ladies.

Thank you, Maggie McNeill, for all of the work that you have undertaken for Hospice and the connections that you have made within the Ipswich community.

Thank you also to Steph - we have enjoyed our year with you as our Art Therapy Student, and we have all learnt to take the time to look after ourselves.

ACS Group QLD are currently replacing some of our paved pathways, as they have become uneven due to being invaded by tree roots. Thank you to Shayne Neumann MP for the grant which is assisting in this work.

The named pavers have been carefully removed and will be replaced into the pathway in the rose garden early in 2026. Some phone calls about the moving of these pavers have occurred, and others are still being followed up.

Updates related to the Hospice Car Park and freshly concreted pathways:
- Carpark open this afternoon (Tues arvo) and this evening. Staff coming on duty can park in the Hospice car park.
- Carpark open tomorrow (Wednesday) 12th Nov.
- Car park CLOSED Thursday 13th November due to the final concrete pour (truck on site).

Pathways will remain out of bounds and blocked off with danger tape until Monday (17th Nov) afternoon.

Heavy traffic on the pathways whilst they are still "green" will result in damage - your cooperation with our closures will be greatly appreciated.

The University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) and Ipswich Hospice have announced they will collaborate to propose the establishment of Queenslandโ€™s first university-based hospice at the UniSQ Ipswich campus.

Building on a shared commitment to compassionate care and community partnerships, the two organisations will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), paving the way for the development of the new Ipswich Hospice.

Under the MoU, UniSQ and Ipswich Hospice will undertake the detailed planning and approvals necessary to establish a state-of-the-art, 30-bed palliative care hospital and a grief counselling service at UniSQ Ipswich.

This new collaboration supports UniSQโ€™s vision for a multi-partner Ipswich Integrated Health and Wellbeing Precinct on campus, which will be anchored by the almost $40 million Ipswich Health Building currently under construction.
