Achieve Better Care Qld

Achieve Better Care Qld 📍Yagara Country
Advancing Inclusion & Accessibility. Our Focus: Raise Awareness, Educate, Engage.

At Achieve Better Care, we understand firsthand the challenges that come with caring for a loved one with a disability. Our inception came from personal lived experience, as we saw firsthand the struggles our loved ones faced in receiving the support, they required from the same rigid framework designed to fill this need. We believe that everyone deserves to live a fulfilling life, regardless of diverse abilities. In their individual capacities, they can contribute to a better quality of life for themselves with the right supports in place, their wonderful minds and bodies can contribute to the success of our society. We work hard to bridge the gap and provide the support necessary to ensure that every individual can participate in society. We focus on their abilities without emphasizing existing disabilities but using professional guidance to ensure their needs are known and met and their chosen environment is tailored to them to ensure inclusivity and enjoyment. Our team is here to help advocate for your loved one's needs and ensure that with our team, they achieve the best care possible.

We wanted to share a special story from one of our families, the Lui family.
Mum Matele describes her daughter Hadassah as a “beautiful girl, that’s full of joy” 💕 Hadassah is 5 years old and has been attending our Logan centre for the last 7 months.

The family came to AEIOU looking for a safe space for their daughter, a place where she can be herself while gaining important skills 💙

Give families raising a child with autism the support they need: https://fundraise.aeiou.org.au/event/be-awesome-for-autism/home

Beautiful Hadassah at growing in leaps and bounds.

Her wonderful parents are also a part of the Community otherwise known as the Pasefika Autism Village Support Group; A community that have continued to support families with loved ones who live with Autism in an volunteer capacity. Thankfully, they are preparing their offical launch to continue their efforts in raising awareness and creating space and inclusion for children who live with autism.

If you, or anyone you know is looking for community support - Pasefika Autism Village Support Group can be contacted:

In light of recent and very sad events in our local area where a community member tragically lost her life from a senseless act of violence, it is a timely reminder for community who live with disabilities to review their safety plans as persons with a disability are likely to encounter greater challenges than those that live without one. A safety plan could save your life in the event of danger. Your service provider can assist in designing a tailored plan that is readily available and accessible that should list emergency contact numbers, ways to access emergency assistance and exit strategies.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Vyleen's family and loved ones at this sad time.

Preparing your child for school is nerve wracking for parents and children. It’s especially important to prepare your child for a successful learning experience and sometimes it requires professional help.

Here are some indicators that your child may benefit from Occupational Therapy:

✅Sensory aversions: Occupational therapy can help with texture challenges.
✅Poor coordination: An OT can address fine motor skill development.
✅Struggling with self-dressing: An OT can explore and address potential fine motor skill challenges.
✅Difficulty in self-calming: An OT can help with improved coping techniques.
✅Avoiding eye contact: Evaluation by an OT can highlight potential developmental needs.

Your child’s OT can liaise with the School to facilitate their learning experience to ensure they thrive and enjoy their education.
