⏰ If you’ve tried time-restricted eating and thought, “Why isn’t this changing my blood sugar?” you’re not imagining it.

Intermittent fasting and time-restricted eating (TRE) are often promoted as powerful tools for insulin sensitivity and metabolic health.
But new research tells a more nuanced story.

In this study, women with overweight or obesity followed:
• Early eating (8am–4pm)
• Late eating (1pm–9pm)

They ate the same foods, in similar amounts, just within different 8-hour windows.

Here’s what researchers found:

👉 Neither early nor late time-restricted eating significantly improved insulin sensitivity
👉 Cardiometabolic markers (glucose, cholesterol, inflammation) didn’t meaningfully change
👉 Weight loss was small and modest
👉 Circadian rhythms shifted — but metabolic health didn’t improve

This matters because many people are working very hard to restrict eating windows, skipping breakfasts, delaying meals, or forcing schedules that don’t suit their life, expecting major metabolic benefits.

When those results don’t come, people often assume:
“I’m doing it wrong.”
“I’m not disciplined enough.”
“My body is broken.”

But this study suggests something different:

✨ Timing alone isn’t enough.

Metabolic health is influenced by:
• Food quality
• Protein adequacy
• Blood sugar balance
• Stress and cortisol
• Sleep
• Hormones
• Nervous system load
• Consistency over time

For some people, TRE can be a helpful structure.
For others, it adds stress, disrupts sleep, or worsens blood sugar swings.

At Healing Hands, we start with you! Your metabolism, your hormones, your stress levels, your lifestyle, and what’s sustainable long-term.

✨ If fasting has felt confusing, ineffective, or stressful, that’s not failure, it’s feedback.

If you’re “eating pretty well” but still struggling with blood sugar, energy crashes, or creeping insulin resistance, this might matter more than you think.

A large, long-term French study following over 100,000 adults for more than a decade has found something important:

👉 Higher exposure to common food preservatives was associated with a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Not rare additives.
Not obscure chemicals.
But widely used preservatives found in everyday foods, including packaged meals, sauces, processed meats, baked goods, and convenience foods.

What’s striking is that multiple preservatives were linked to increased diabetes risk, even after accounting for overall diet quality, lifestyle, and other factors.

This helps explain a common frustration I hear:

“I’m not overeating. I’m not eating much sugar. So why are my blood sugars still off?”

Because it’s not just what we eat, it’s how processed our food is, and how often our bodies are exposed to compounds they weren’t designed to handle daily.

Preservatives may:
• Disrupt metabolic signalling
• Interfere with insulin sensitivity
• Affect gut microbiome balance
• Add to cumulative metabolic stress over time

And here’s the key point, this isn’t about perfection or fear.
It’s about awareness.

Most people aren’t choosing these additives intentionally, they’re just doing their best in a modern food environment.

✨ The good news?
When people shift toward fresh, minimally processed foods, the body often responds remarkably well, with better energy, steadier blood sugar, and improved metabolic resilience.

At Healing Hands, we help people:
• Identify hidden sources of metabolic stress
• Simplify food choices without overwhelm
• Support blood sugar and insulin health holistically
• Build sustainable eating patterns that fit real life

If your joints feel stiffer, sorer, or less reliable than they used to… this isn’t just “getting older.”

New global research shows that osteoarthritis is now affecting nearly 600 million people worldwide — and cases are rising rapidly as we age.

But here’s the part most people don’t hear:

Osteoarthritis isn’t only about wear and tear.
It’s about how well your body can adapt, repair, and cope over time.

This condition doesn’t just bring pain. It quietly chips away at:
• Mobility
• Confidence in movement
• Energy
• Independence
• Quality of life

Many people notice it as:
😣 Knee pain walking up stairs
😣 Hip stiffness getting out of the car
😣 Hand pain making daily tasks harder
😣 Avoiding movement “just in case it hurts”

And once that cycle starts, it often accelerates.

The research also highlights something important:
👉 There is no cure once osteoarthritis reaches advanced stages
👉 Joint replacements help late-stage disease, but prevention is far better
👉 Modifiable factors like body weight, inflammation, movement patterns, injury history, and workload on joints matter more than most people realise

In fact, higher body weight alone contributes to around 20% of osteoarthritis cases, not because of blame, but because joints are living tissues that respond to load, inflammation, and metabolic health.

This is where early, personalised support makes a difference.

At Healing Hands, we don’t just look at sore joints in isolation.
We look at:
• How you move
• How your body recovers
• Inflammation and metabolic health
• Muscle support and joint stability
• Lifestyle and workload on your body

Because the goal isn’t just pain relief, it’s keeping you mobile, capable, and confident for years to come.

✨ If joint pain has started to limit your life, even quietly, now is the time to act, not wait.

So, as a small business, a lot of the behinds the scene stuff is done by us.
We do get some help with social media, marketing and Google, but when websites are updated or a new practitioner starts working from Healing Hands you’ll find me tapping away at my keyboard.

Today I updated the FAQ for our Metabolic Balance Program, the Payment Options Page and added a new service and practitioner.

What if what you are eating each day is contributing to how your brain works?

Now yes - what you’re eating might not be the cause of your symptoms - but it is likely that what you eat makes your symptoms worse.

If you feel tired, inflamed, foggy, snacky, or disconnected from food… it may not be “you.”
It may be the food environment you’re living in.

A major new Lancet Series confirms what many people intuitively feel:
Ultra-processed foods are quietly replacing traditional, whole-food meals across the globe — and our bodies are struggling to keep up.

These foods aren’t just “convenient.”
They’re engineered to be:
⚠️ Hyper-palatable
⚠️ Easy to overeat
⚠️ Energy-dense but nutrient-poor
⚠️ Soft, fast, and disconnected from natural satiety cues

Over time, this can lead to:
• Constant hunger despite eating enough
• Cravings that feel out of control
• Low energy and brain fog
• Weight gain without clarity
• Inflammation and metabolic stress

What’s powerful about this research is that it shows this isn’t about individual failure or willpower.
It’s about food patterns and how ultra-processed foods disrupt the body’s natural signals.

When real meals made from whole foods are displaced, we lose more than nutrients.
We lose rhythm, satisfaction, and ease around eating.

✨ The good news?
Your body responds incredibly well when it’s nourished with foods it recognises.

At Healing Hands, we help people step away from confusion and back toward simple, supportive, whole-food eating, without perfection or overwhelm.
