Essentially, the saying means that in order for us as humans to effectively take care of others, we must first take care of ourselves. The notion is intuitive in nature, but can be more difficult to put into practice.

I know for a fact that in order for me to be the best mum I can be, I need to make sure I'm taking care of myself too.

Easier said than done I know but I promise it plays out 😉

Until I became a mum I never realised how 'not busy' I actually was 😅

When you have limited time to do something you make damn sure it gets done.

I only get 2 hours a day to catch up with clients and get a session done and have a coffee.

It used to take me 2 hours to p***y foot around and maybeeeee I'd get in a session and put off the rest.

We've been a little quiet for awhile..

9 weeks ago we welcomed my little bub April Kate into the world which has been an adjustment but she has been my main priority over work.

Finally we are finding our feet and starting to get back into some 'normality'.

I'm so happy to present Mel's journey because it's such an excellent example of patience and consistency 🙌

This is a 2 year journey. The initial weight loss started from July 2020 with focusing on building the habit of turning up to the gym 3 times a week and generally just moving more which resulted in the initial 10kg lost.

Then it wasn't until 7 months in we started tracking weight loss and skin folds, another 10kg and 10% body fat drop in brought us to the 1 year mark.

What I find most impressive is what happened over the next year, maintenance of weight loss.

Because we built sustainable habits over a longer period of time, Mel has managed to keep the weight off rather than choosing the crash diet option for fast results.

Most importantly I can see the massive shift in confidence in this young lady snd that is what it's really all about.

This journey is the best example of what sustainable lifestyle changes really look like and it makes me incredibly happy to witness these changes ❤

If you tell yourself "I'm too busy".

Then you will never make the time.

I know because I've been there before with the same old excuses.

Training can be as easy or as difficult as you make it.

I'm all about efficiency, therefore I opt for a fast yet effective session for clients who are trying to implement training into their busy schedules.

It covers multiple muscle groups per session, therefore more total volume throughout the week compared to spliting up muscle groups into different sessions.

It takes only 45 minutes of your time 3 times a week.

If we fail to put in the painful and strenuous effort of making peace with our hypocritical, deceptive, weak and sickly selves towards the cultivation of self-love and understanding, we will forever be like everyone else in society: running about like headless chickens trying to gain love, acceptance and validation in an endless futile cycle of chaos, confusion, disappointment and perpetual emptiness.

3 things that are almost always YOUR OWN FAULT >>>

👩‍🍳 No one is holding a gun to your head and making you stay in a job you hate.

It's never too late to change your path.

It's OK to not like what you do for a career anymore.

💤 If you haven't tried basic sleep hygiene consistently you haven't tried.

If you stay up scrolling on your phone you haven't tried.

If you rely solely on sleep medication and don't bother to exercise you haven't tried.

🗓 If you don't have a tangible diary/calendar then you have no structure.

If you don't actively schedule in your training it won't get done, and you are telling yourself it's not a priority.

You have the same amount of time as the people who are succeeding at the things you want to succeed in.

Boundaries are essential in every relationship – with family, friends, partners, even colleagues.

Your boundaries are your values, they tell people around you what you care about, what you’re willing to put up with, and what isn’t okay for you.

Without them, people would walk all over you and take advantage of your time and energy.

For example, you make it clear that punctuality is important to you.

Yet every time you meet, they’re ridiculously late and never care to apologize or change this habit to respect you.

It is up to you to set the boundaries and be clear to others when the boundary has been crossed, show yourself respect if you expect it in return 💯 👌

Intuitive Eating: Another buzz word?

YES, there are people who twist the idea of "intuitive eating" to mean "eating tons of food and forcing myself to be happy remaining fat".

NO, this is not an accurate depiction of what intuitive eating really means.

Intuitive eating is a way to fix your relationship with food.

It is about learning how to eat in a way that creates fullness and satiety while also practicing moderation.

It is not just feel good "trust your instincts" rhetoric, it is rooted in the science of cravings, satiety hormones, and the brain-gut connection.

Weight loss may or may not result from it, but it is a separate thing.

If weight loss is your ultimate goal, fixing your relationship with food first can help you to lose weight and maintain it for life.
