Ipswich, meet Vanessa 👋

Vanessa is our new graduate Speech Pathologist based at our Ipswich Allied Health Centre. She is passionate about supporting children and adults to build confidence in their communication and enjoy food safely.

She supports clients with:
• Speech sounds
• Stuttering
• Language development
• Swallowing and dysphagia

Vanessa works closely with clients and their support networks to provide practical, holistic support that extends beyond the therapy room.

Proud moment for our team as CEO and Occupational Therapist Javier Bara joins the expert panel at the upcoming Healthy Ageing Forum: Staying in the Driver’s Seat.

The session explores how we can better support older adults to remain safe, confident, and independent drivers for longer, while planning ahead for future mobility needs.

A great opportunity for community members, families, and professionals to learn, ask questions, and share experiences around staying mobile and independent.

Anxiety can look different for everyone, and sometimes it’s the small, simple things that help us feel more grounded.

Whether it’s getting some extra rest, going for a walk, reaching out to a friend, or simply taking a few slow breaths, small steps can make a big difference.

If things feel overwhelming, remember that support is available and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

We’re pleased to welcome several new clinicians to the Intrinsic Health team 💙

Mia, Tvisha and Vanessa have joined us as Graduate Speech Pathologists, Madison has joined as a Graduate Occupational Therapist, and Pariss has joined our team as a Speech Pathologist delivering services via telehealth.

Mia, Tvisha, Vanessa and Madison are based in our Ipswich clinics and work closely with our wider multidisciplinary team as they settle into their roles.

Our growing Ipswich team allows us to better support our local community, including offering Speech Pathology via telehealth for those who need flexible access 💻

A sensory scavenger hunt encourages children to explore their environment while building sensory awareness and descriptive language. By noticing and comparing sensory information, children develop greater understanding of how their body interacts with the world around them.

🤸‍♀️ Holiday Break Activity Series | Physiotherapy 🤸‍♀️
Animal walk obstacle courses are a fun, play-based way to build strength, balance and coordination at home. Movements such as bear walks, crab walks and frog jumps encourage whole-body engagement while supporting postural control and body awareness. Turning the activity into a story or adventure can help children stay motivated while developing important physical skills needed for everyday play and movement.

Looking for something quick, fun and low-prep to try at home these holidays? Our Speech Pathologists suggest playing simple category games with your child.

Name three fruits. Three things that fly. Three summer activities.
It’s easy, playful, and sneaks in loads of language learning without feeling like homework.

Category games help children build vocabulary, practise retrieving information, and strengthen memory in a natural, relaxed way.

Try it in the car, at the dinner table or while waiting in a queue — anywhere works.
