This week is shaping up to be proper inland heat here in Mildura — not just “bit warm” weather.

☀️ Stay safe
💧 Start hydrating early (don’t wait until you’re thirsty)
🏠 Plan indoor time during peak heat
🐶 Check on pets, kids, older family & neighbours
🔥 Be fire-aware — conditions can change fast

🥗 Eat to stay cool

Hydration isn’t just about water — your food helps too.
High-water foods to lean on:
🍉 Watermelon
🥒 Cucumber
🍓 Strawberries
🍊 Oranges
🥬 Leafy greens & lettuce
🍅 Tomatoes
🥣 Greek yoghurt
🍲 Light, brothy meals (even chilled)
Don’t forget electrolytes:
🧂 A pinch of salt, feta, olives, or a proper meal — plain water alone isn’t always enough in extreme heat.
Maybe ease up on:
☕ Too much caffeine
🍷 Alcohol
🍔 Heavy, greasy meals

Christmas can feel like a lot — socially, emotionally, mentally, and sensory-wise.
And when your nervous system is overloaded, it’s completely normal to turn to food for comfort.
You’re not weak. You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re human. 💛

If you’d like to feel more balanced (without restricting the foods you love), here are some gentle ways to support yourself this December:

✨ Eat regular meals – skipping meals leads to grazing and overeating later.
✨ Add protein first – it stabilises blood sugar and reduces craving spirals.
✨ Stay hydrated – thirst often looks like hunger.
✨ Use the “pause & check-in” moment – Am I hungry? Stressed? Bored? Overwhelmed?
✨ Make a balanced plate – aim for colour, variety, and something fresh.
✨ Slow your eating – notice the flavour and texture; it helps your brain register fullness.
✨ Give yourself full permission – guilt drives overeating more than food ever will.

You don’t need a perfect Christmas — just a kind one.
