Working together to provide serial casting for a participant. Serial casting is when a series of casts are placed on the limb over time (i.e. days to weeks) to gradually increase the stretch provided to muscles. The aim of serial casting is to increase the range of movement at a joint. For this participant we’re working on improving his ability to put his heel down during walking 🙂

Aquatic physiotherapy is carried out in a pool and can only be provided by physiotherapists who have special training in rehabilitation in water. Aquatic physiotherapists use their skills to find the main problems with a person's flexibility, strength, posture, balance, general movement, or walking. A targeted treatment program in the pool can help you address your main difficulties in these areas.
At 1Life Physio we can provide assessment and activities for you to do in a local pool with a Physio or an Allied Health Assistant.

21 – 27 August 2023 is Brain Injury Awareness Week, held annually to raise awareness of brain injury and its impact on individuals, families and community
This year’s theme explores how although brain injury isn’t always seen, it’s a complex disability that affects how people think and feel as they recover and reintegrate into everyday life.
Brain injury is more than you see, think or feel.

These 2 devices were dropped off to a participant today to help with breathing and secretion clearance.

The Breather RMST (respiratory muscle strength training) device combines inspiratory and expiratory muscle training. In short it helps to strengthen the muscles that help you to breathe in and out.

AirPhysio utilises oscillations (vibrations) in the airways to mobilise mucus to allow smooth movement and removal when coughing and clearing.

Together they can help improve chest management and are both easy to use at home. 😮‍💨

National Pain Week 2023 is Australia’s annual awareness event for chronic pain. Chronic Pain Australia wants to draw attention to the experience of people living with chronic pain and, by doing so, reduce the social and other barriers related to living and managing chronic pain. This year’s theme ‘Let them know how strong you are’ and ‘painchanger’ aims to break down the stigma of talking about and seeking care for people experiencing chronic pain.

At 1Life Physio we have team members who specialise in pain management and are well-placed to provide education on the complexities of pain and how the nervous and immune systems work. They can assess and manage sensory and movement changes that might occur in association with pain, teach pain management techniques and develop an exercise prescription plan tailored to you.
