Not all pain is visible. This is especially true for children who live with chronic pain.

Today marks the beginning of Kids in Pain Week, an important time to raise awareness and advocate for the 1 in 5 Australian children living with chronic pain. This isn't just a minor ache; it's a debilitating condition that can affect a child’s schooling, friendships, and overall quality of life.

The reality is, children in pain are often misunderstood or not believed. Their pain is just as real as an adult's, but it can be harder for them to communicate what they're feeling.

This week, let’s:

Listen with compassion. Take a child's pain seriously and validate their experience.

Educate ourselves. Learn about chronic pain in children and the resources available to help.

Support families. The burden of chronic pain impacts the whole family. Show your support to those caring for a child in pain.

Let’s work together to ensure that no child has to suffer in silence. https://chronicpainaustralia.org.au/

In Australia, Dementia Action Week is held from 15-21 September, which includes World Alzheimer's Day on 21 September. The theme for 2025 is "Nobody Can Do It Alone."

Today marks the beginning of Dementia Action Week, a time to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding dementia. This year's theme, "Nobody Can Do It Alone," is a powerful reminder that it takes a whole community to support those living with dementia, their families, and their carers.

Dementia is not a normal part of aging. It's a complex disease that impacts thinking, memory, and behavior. The journey is different for everyone, but one thing is clear: support makes a world of difference.

This week, let’s commit to:

Learning more: Understand what dementia is and how it affects people.

Reaching out: Connect with someone living with dementia or their carer. A simple conversation, a shared cup of tea, or a moment of genuine connection can mean so much.

Creating a dementia-friendly community: Little actions, like being patient and taking the time to listen, can help someone feel included and understood.

Together, we can ensure that no one faces this journey alone. https://www.dementia.org.au/get-involved/dementia-action-week

Today is R U OK? Day, a reminder to pause and check in on the people in our lives. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in our own challenges, but a simple, genuine question can make a world of difference to someone who might be struggling.

You don't need to have all the answers. The most important thing you can offer is your time and your ear.

Here’s how to start the conversation:

Ask a genuine question. Instead of just "How are you?" try "How have you been feeling lately?" or "Is everything alright?"

Listen without judgment. Let them know they have a safe space to talk, no matter what they’re going through.

Encourage them to take action. If they're not doing well, gently suggest speaking with a professional or a trusted support person.

Check in again. A quick message or call in a few days shows you genuinely care.

Your kindness and a simple question could be the lifeline someone needs today. Let’s make every day a day to ask, "Are you OK?" https://www.ruok.org.au/

oday is Work-to-Work Day, also known as "Wait, I have another meeting?!" Day.

It's the day we all celebrate the glorious journey from our desks to the kitchen for coffee, then to the meeting room for a chat, then back to the desk, only to get up and do it all over again.

And let's not forget the strategic workout of lifting that overly full mug, the intensive cardio of sprinting to catch a print job before it gets picked up, and the deep breathing exercises we all perform before sending that very important email.

So, here's to the unsung heroes of the office! The ones who keep the snack drawer fully stocked and the coffee machine humming. Happy Work-to-Work Day! May your productivity be high and your caffeine intake even higher. https://www.walk.com.au/wtw/homepage.asp
