Not all pain is visible. This is especially true for children who live with chronic pain.
Today marks the beginning of Kids in Pain Week, an important time to raise awareness and advocate for the 1 in 5 Australian children living with chronic pain. This isn't just a minor ache; it's a debilitating condition that can affect a child’s schooling, friendships, and overall quality of life.
The reality is, children in pain are often misunderstood or not believed. Their pain is just as real as an adult's, but it can be harder for them to communicate what they're feeling.
This week, let’s:
Listen with compassion. Take a child's pain seriously and validate their experience.
Educate ourselves. Learn about chronic pain in children and the resources available to help.
Support families. The burden of chronic pain impacts the whole family. Show your support to those caring for a child in pain.
Let’s work together to ensure that no child has to suffer in silence. https://chronicpainaustralia.org.au/
