Last night I’m in the kitchen chopping veggies, when my pre-teen strolls in and goes:
“Mum… why do we even have vegetables? Nobody likes them.”

Cue me holding a carrot stick like it’s a microphone.
“Excuse me? I like them. And so will you, once you stop living off noodles and toast.” 😂

Here’s the thing though. Mum life at this stage is wild. Between school projects, sports, and snack raids, it’s way too easy to just grab whatever’s quick and forget about your own goals.

But I’ve learned this.
When you keep things simple (hello easy meals + realistic portions), you actually can lose weight, feel good, and still survive the “Mum, what’s for dinner?” interrogation every single night.

Because let’s be honest, if I can win the veggie debate with a pre-teen, I can definitely help you find balance with food too. 😉

Mums, let’s be real. Life is messy. Between snacks for the kids, a late night treat because why not, and dodging vegetables ourselves, it’s easy to feel like you’ve completely blown your progress.

Here’s the truth.
One day (or even one week) doesn’t define you. Your body doesn’t “remember” every chocolate slice or extra scoop of pasta. What matters is what you do consistently, not perfectly.

So instead of stressing over one dessert or a takeaway night, focus on your next meal, your next healthy choice, your next glass of water. It all adds up.

Ohhh the cheese shock is real 🧀😂⁠

When I first started tracking, I realised my "just a sprinkle” was actually more like half the block.

And it’s not just cheese. Peanut butter, olive oil, cereal, even healthy snacks can sneak those extras in!⁠

Here’s the thing, you can eat healthy all day long, but if you’re not in a calorie deficit, the scale’s not gonna budge.

It’s not always what we’re eating that’s the problem, it’s how much (and how often those little extras sneak in)⁠.

Mums let’s be real, so many of us tell ourselves, “I’ll start fresh in January” and put our health goals on hold.

But here’s the thing. 100 days (yes I know it’s crazy how close Christmas is, and I’m excited!!!) is plenty of time to feel amazing, boost your energy, and actually enjoy the lead up to the holidays.

If I wanted to feel confident and full of energy by Christmas, here’s what I’d do
1️⃣ Reset my mornings for consistent energy
2️⃣ Nail simple meal planning that actually fits my life
3️⃣ Focus on small daily habits that give me a natural energy boost
4️⃣ Build routines that are realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable

Until we made a few simple tweaks, then her weekends became a breeze.

✨ Lowered her step count (realistic for weekends)
✨ Added one fun workout (involved the kids with this one!)
✨ Wrote meals down ahead of time
✨ Focused on better than last weekend, not perfection

The difference?
She stopped feeling guilty every Monday and actually enjoyed her weekends while still making progress. 🎉

Here’s the truth
Weekends don’t have to throw you off track. A little structure = way more freedom to enjoy life without the guilt.
