🌈 A Little Update from Fun Nurse 🌈

As many of you may have seen in the news recently, a lot of daycare centres are becoming much stricter with their photography policies during incursions.

This is something I fully understand and respect — the safety and privacy of children will always come first. 💕

That being said, it does affect my ability to capture and share the joy of my sessions on social media. Over the past several months, many centres (including the last five I’ve visited) have had policies in place where no phones or photography are allowed inside, even if parents have already signed permission forms.

Because of this, my social media might look a little quieter than usual — not because the fun isn’t happening (I promise, it absolutely is! 🎉), but simply because I can’t share those smiling faces.
Instead, I’ll continue to post photos of Dr. Scrubs 🧸 and the equipment we use, but I know this may become a little repetitive.

👉 If you’ve hosted a Fun Nurse incursion, firstly thank you so much for your support! Secondly, it would mean the world to me if you could help spread the word by recommending Fun Nurse to your sister centres or other educators. Did you know it’s Dental Health Week? 🦷🪥
Monday 4th August - Sunday 10th August 2025.

This week highlights the importance of paediatric oral health and the key milestones in a child’s dental care journey—from birth through to adulthood.

Dental Health Week aims to raise awareness and promote education around maintaining good oral hygiene, while encouraging collaboration and advocacy within the dental profession.

During my Fun Nurse sessions, we explore topics such as when and how often we should brush our teeth, why oral hygiene matters, and how healthy habits help protect our teeth and gums for life.

After the educational discussion, children are given the opportunity to practise brushing their teeth as part of a fun and engaging teddy bear role play session.

Another fantastic morning at Bloom Early Education!
This was my third visit to this wonderful centre, and it’s always a joy to see how much fun and learning the children take away from each session.

This special little light is called an otoscope — it’s used by doctors and nurses to check the ear canal and ear drum.
During my sessions, I don’t check the children’s ears, so Dr. Scrubs kindly volunteers for the demonstration!

I love including the otoscope in our sessions to help children see it as a friendly, safe piece of equipment. We show that the light doesn’t hurt and there’s nothing to be afraid of.
So, although it’s used for the ears, we use it to take a peek at our eyes and even our teeth just to use it as a safe piece of medical equipment — it also opens up a great conversation about dental care and the importance of brushing morning and night!
