Every year, around 1 in 700 babies are born with Down syndrome - a genetic condition caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21. It’s one of the most common chromosomal conditions, yet still widely misunderstood.

A diagnosis doesn’t define a person. With the right support and inclusion, people with Down syndrome live full, meaningful lives and bring so much to their communities.

Today, on World Down Syndrome Day, we celebrate awareness, inclusion, and the incredible individuals who continue to challenge perceptions every day. 💙💛

🚨 Big News — We’re Moving!

Today we say goodbye to the office where it all began and start an exciting new chapter for Purple Heather. While it’s a little bittersweet leaving the place that holds so many memories, we’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead as we prepare for our brand new home.

While our new location is being finalised, it’s business as usual and operations will continue as normal. We’ll be sure to keep everyone updated and can’t wait to welcome you into the new Purple Heather space very soon. 💜

For many families, this isn’t just a month on the calendar — it’s daily life.

It’s appointments and assessments.
It’s research and IEP meetings.
It’s explaining your child’s needs over and over again.

It’s celebrating milestones that others might not even notice.
It’s advocating when you’re exhausted.
It’s learning new strategies, adjusting expectations, and loving fiercely through it all.

It’s the quiet worry about whether your child will be included.
The hope that teachers, friends, and the community will choose patience and understanding.
The pride in every small win.

Developmental differences don’t define limits, they highlight resilience, strength, and unique ways of seeing the world.
