To celebrate Mental Health Week 2025 in Western Australia I will be attending the WAAMH Mental Health Awards on Friday 10th October as a finalist for the Innovation Award for the Attachment & Biobehavioral Catch-up Program which was a partnership with Ngala, Lifespan Psychology Centre and Pregnancy to Parenthood Clinic. Contracted by Lifespan Psychology Centre as the Project Coordinator and Clinical Lead for this pilot project in WA, I am delighted with the results and outcomes for WA families. I’m looking forward to celebrating this achievement with the partnership organisations 🤩🥳🥰

We’re proud to sponsor the Innovation in Service Delivery Award in the WA Mental Health Awards!

Congratulations to the five incredible finalists. This year’s finalists showcase the powerful impact that lived experience, innovation, and community-led initiatives can have on mental health. The winners will be announced at a gala celebration on 10 October, during WA Mental Health Week.

Congratulations to Rachael Burns, Youth Focus Youth Reference Group member, who has been nominated for the Lived Experience Impact and Inspiration Award for her inspiring work in the space.

Think of it this way: your baby's brain comes pre-wired with incredible potential, like a sophisticated computer ready to download any operating system.

Does your child push you away right when they seem to need you most? Those confusing behaviors aren’t about rejection, or defiance, or manipulation. They’re your child’s attempt to maintain connection with you through the only methods they believe will work.

Every tantrum, every “go away,” every confusing reaction may actually be your child’s way of saying, “I need you. Please don’t give up on me.”

The Circle of Security offers a new way to see your child’s behavior—not as problems to fix, but as signals of their deep need for connection.

This! 🙌

A new study confirms what many parents already know: singing soothes babies.
But it’s not about perfect pitch—it’s about connection.

In the study, parents weren’t told to sing—but they did, instinctively. And it worked. Their babies calmed. Over time, they settled more easily. This is what Circle of Security Parenting calls Parental Wisdom: that deep, intuitive drive to comfort and connect.

When it feels hard to access that wisdom, it doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re human—and you’re not alone. At COSP, we don’t expect perfection. We help parents reconnect with the part of themselves that wants to show up, even when they’re unsure how.

Your baby doesn’t need a lullaby in tune.
They need you.

As an extremely busy Infant Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 comes to an end, it’s been important to consider further the Australian theme of Supporting Families Caring for Babies. This approach fosters the long-term positive developmental outcomes for children by all professionals working with 0-3 year olds and their families. Infant Mental Health is everyone’s business 🥰

Discussing this on a daily basis with families and dispelling this common belief 🥰

Many new parents are told that by responding too quickly or too warmly to an infant’s cries, they risk “spoiling” them. The fear is that too much attention will create a child who is weak, demanding, or self-centered. But here’s the truth: you can’t spoil an infant. Learn more on our blog:...

How true ❤️

It makes sense that we get caught up in trying to change our children's behavior—it's so visible. But the truth is, we must first attend to our own internal experience: the things we know but have never really thought about. What makes it hard to explore is that we often lack the words to talk about what's Hidden In Plain Sight. Learn more at Circle of Security.

In our interconnected world, we are bombarded by information for every aspect of parenting. It is easy to feel that if you are not following each and every guideline (many of which are contradictory), that you are failing your child. Yet, beyond rules, strategies and scripts is a simple truth – we all are born with the capacity for security. It’s in our biology.

The Circle of Security is here to keep you in touch with your innate capacity for wisdom and love.
