Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection that can lead to HPV-related cancers such as cervical cancer and other cancers such as 🐱, 🌻, 🍆, 🍑, cancer.

HPV rarely produces symptoms and cannot be cured or treated; therefore, vaccination is essential to protect against HPV and HPV-related diseases. However, young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People do not receive all their HPV vaccine doses, resulting in missed opportunities to be protected from HPV-related cancers. HPV vaccine can prevent HPV infection, the development of precancerous lesions and cancers caused by vaccine-type HPV infection. Since the introduction of the HPV vaccination program in Australia in 2007, reductions in lesions caused by HPV have already been recorded. Through a combination of high rates of HPV vaccination and cervical screening, Australia is on track to eliminate cervical cancer by 2035. In addition to reducing the risk of cervical cancer, HPV vaccination protects against HPV infections and associated disease in other sites.
