Pranavi Women’s Health A medical practice dedicated to providing compassionate care for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause.

Today is a slow walk kind of a day for me! And that is absolutely OK!
This week has been busy, with late nights and I have let my healthy eating and protein intake slip, and I can feel I am tired. So I am listening to my body, and taking it slow but keeping the consistency. It is important to listen to your body, and also important to stay consistent, adjust your mobility plan/exercise to your energy levels and stay focused.

I got my 30g of protein in at breakfast and pumped now ! Happy Sunday Everyone !!

Perimenopause and menopause are not the time to stop moving — they are the time to move with purpose. ✨

As hormone levels change, women naturally begin to lose muscle mass, bone strength and metabolic resilience more rapidly. Exercise becomes one of the most powerful tools we have to support healthy ageing from the inside out.

Regular movement may help support:
• Muscle and bone strength
• Energy and mood
• Better sleep
• Metabolic and heart health
• Balance and mobility
• Healthy ageing at a cellular level

You do not need extreme workouts.
You need consistency.

Walking.
Strength training.
Mobility work.
Resistance exercise.
Movement that supports your future self. 🌿
This weekend, think of exercise not as punishment… but as an investment in your strength, vitality and independence for decades to come. 💚

Did you know PCOS is now being referred to as PMOS?
PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) was first named in 1935, when it was believed to mainly affect the ovaries.
We now understand this condition is far more complex and affects multiple systems throughout the body — impacting an estimated 170 million women worldwide.
The newer term, PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome), better reflects the broader effects this condition can have on:
• hormonal health
• metabolic health
• reproductive health
• cardiovascular health
• psychological wellbeing
This shift is important because it moves the focus away from this being seen as “just an ovarian condition” and recognises it as a multisystem health condition.
If you have already been diagnosed with PCOS, this does NOT mean your diagnosis has suddenly changed.
But it is a valuable reminder to revisit your overall health approach with your healthcare professional and ask:
✔ Has my metabolic health been assessed?
✔ What about my cardiovascular risk?
✔ Are my hormonal and reproductive symptoms being addressed?
✔ Has my mental wellbeing also been considered?
Awareness leads to better conversations, better care and a more holistic approach to women’s health. 🌿

A little message for the partners navigating perimenopause alongside the women they love 👇
At a recent workshop, I was asked: “What advice would you give husbands and partners of women going through perimenopause?”

So here it is — without the medical jargon, lectures or relationship TED Talk 😅
Perimenopause is a real hormonal and physiological transition.

Which means sometimes the woman you love may:
• Sleep badly • Feel emotionally overwhelmed • Forget things • Lose patience quicker • Feel overstimulated • Withdraw from intimacy • Simply not feel like herself
And no, she is probably not “just in a mood.”

One of the most underrated things you can do? Instead of trying to solve everything immediately, try: “How can I help?”
Honestly, sometimes making the tea, taking something off her plate, or just listening quietly is more helpful than offering solutions.

Also — overstimulation is very real in this stage of life. Many women hit perimenopause while juggling careers, kids, ageing parents, relationships, life admin and about 37 open tabs in their brain at all times.
Space, quiet and rest are not luxuries. * *They become necessary.*
A partner who understands this phase — or at least tries to — can make an enormous difference.

Read about perimenopause. Learn when symptoms may need medical support.
Help her recognise when she may need extra care, because sometimes women are so deep in survival mode that they do not realise how overwhelmed they have become.

And remember — you do not need to have all the answers. Showing up consistently, checking in, listening and being steady through the chaos matters more than getting it perfect. Perimenopause can be a challenging season, but many couples come through it with stronger communication, deeper understanding and a better partnership on the other side.

To the supportive partners trying their best — Thank you --- we see you too 💛

Save & share with someone who may need this today.

What is Post Menopause? Am I through Menopause?

Post menopause are the years that follow after your reach “ Menopause” – the day where you have been 12 months consecutively without a period.

A woman can spend 40% of her lifetime in Post menopause years.

You can still experience symptoms of - hot flushes, mood changes, sleep changes, low libido, urinary urgency/frequency, stress and urge incontinence, va**nal and v***al symptoms.
Are you through Menopause? No because menopause is not something you go through and end, it is a physiological change in your body that results form hormonal changes and deficiency, that causes multitude of changes in your body.
If you are in your post menopause years, and are still experiencing symptoms that are causing your distress, speak to your menopause informed doctors about management. Become informed about evidence based up to date treatment options, hormonal or non hormonal, for your health concerns, and make informed health decisions.

Sleep disturbances are a well-recognised and often distressing symptom of perimenopause and menopause.

At our Saturday workshop, we explored the causes of sleep disturbances in perimenopause—and, importantly, what can be done about them, including the evidence-based therapies available to improve sleep.

If you are experiencing sleep changes and disturbances such as - difficulty falling asleep, frequent wakening, poor quality of sleep, restless legs or sleep apnoea - causing tiredness and fatigue through the day - remember you don't have to suffer, you can seek support and evidence based therapies by seeing your Menopause/ Women's GP.

Empower yourself with menopause information and conversations, to make informed health decisions.
