I have been trying to make myself do something each day to help de stress and start to down regulate my sympathetic nervous system. I, like many of you, have been living in fight or flight for way too long, and I am starting to get worried about the long term health effects of this. Yes I am a therapist, but I am also human and being a type A "always on" type of person my entire life, its the one area I have struggled in. This is something I have started doing for 5-10 minutes each day, to begin bringing things into my life that get me out of that sympathetic NS and into the parasympathetic, a little bit at a time.
