I was honoured to recieve Volunteer of the Year from the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder on Friday.

I am humbled and grateful to those who nominated me and to the judges for selecting me.

I adore our community and take any chance I can to give back.

I had the privilege and honour to conduct the most beautiful service today to say farewell to a truly remarkable woman.

Eva May Stokes, a warm, endearing, loving and strong woman who lived for an incredible 91 years.

So many of her family were there to say farewell, and it was so magical to see so many people there. I know there were many who couldn't attend, but thank you to Chuck for arranging a live stream 📹

One of the most beautiful things happened at the service today, which I just had to share - in lieu of a normal photo presentation, the family played a video created by Eva's grandson, it was a biography or her life, an interview with Eva, about her childhood, falling in love, her family and most of all, some powerful words to us all -

"you must heal from within"
"we are responsible for our actions"
"be kind"

You cannot put a price on how special that video is for the family. A true keepsake of her voice, her face and her memories.

She will be dearly missed by so many, an incredible legacy of love, generosity and warmth she has left behind ♥

Thank you to the family for allowing me the honour of guiding you all in the farewell.
