MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎅🏽 🌟

From our Spot On Therapy Family to yours! We are so grateful and thankful to work with such incredible participants and families every single day.

Our team is officially off to enjoy some well deserved holidays and will be back even better in Jan 2026, with a bigger team and some more amazing OTs. Myself (Monique - Director and OT) will be going on Maternity leave for a few months - but I will see you around very soon after! 🐣

Thank you for all your love and support this year and have the best Christmas and New Year 💜💚💜💚

Love,
Spot On Therapy Team & Monique

Welcome to our two new Occupational Therapists… BRITTANY & COURTNEY! 🐣☀️🥳

We are so incredibly excited to have you start your OT journey with us and can’t wait to watch you grow 🤠

Please make them feel welcome if you see them around the red dirt, although they will be staying around in Perth as well to help out with some of our Perth participants as well 💜💚

Last week I had the absolute privilege of being asked to present on the benefits of working in regional areas, to students considering working out bush or making the move from Perth!

🏜️ 🌵 🍂

Thank you so much Rural Health West & Curtin University for creating these opportunities and conferences for our future allied health professionals. ✨

📢 NDIS CHANGES & WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU 💬

From 1st July 2025, NDIS pricing changes are officially in effect — and they’re significantly impacting how we deliver services, especially in regional areas like Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields.

💸 Therapy rates remain frozen (7 years running!) despite inflation — and travel billing has been halved, even for remote visits like the NG Lands.

🚗 Travel to and from your appointment is now billed at 50% of the therapist’s hourly rate, in 10-minute increments.

📝 We’re now also required to bill for non-face-to-face time like preparation, coordination, report writing, and follow-up — things we’ve absorbed for years, but can no longer sustain without compromising our team and services.

🤝 We promise to stay ethical, fair and transparent, but we also need to ensure the future of therapy in the Goldfields.

🧠 A “1-hour session” often involves far more behind the scenes — planning, communicating, documenting, and reflecting — all to give you the best care possible.

We know change is hard. We’re here with you every step of the way. These updates are about survival AND sustainability — so we can keep doing what we love: showing up for YOU.

💚 With deep gratitude,
Monique & the Spot On Therapy Team

It is not a good week to be an Allied Health Professional working within the NDIS. We had changes come into play yesterday that affect us all as small business owners and our participants in unimaginable ways.

Read below for our take, as well as other amazing Allied Health Professionals in Kalgoorlie speaking up on recent NDIS changes - representation from Regional Areas are important. Thank you to the Kalgoorlie Miner who took the time to listen to us and share our concerns.

The New Pricing Arrangement include:

1. FREEZING maximum hourly rates for most allied health providers - these rates have stayed stagnant for 5 years. They have not increased despite inflation rising by 20%+.

2. Cutting maximum hourly rates for for physio, podiatrists and dietitans.

3. Cutting travel rates by 50%, meaning we can no longer afford to viably travel to participants homes that require care in the home. It also means we will struggle to support remote communities who already receive little to no healthcare.

4. Removing remote loading for therapists that support families in rural areas.

The NDIS is running small buisnesses that ate passionate about the work we do into the ground. If you have the time, and care about speaking up to support people with disability and our allied health professionals across the country, here are some emails to provide feedback and formal complaints to:

📧 minister.butler@health.gov.au
📧 senator.mcallister@aph.gov.au
📧 provider.support@ndis.gov.au
📧 enquiries@ndis.gov.au
📧 pricehelp@ndiscommission.gov.au
📧 apr@ndis.gov.au

We will not stop fighting for the care and support of the participants and people with disability that we service, as well as our Allied Health professionals.

And we definitely will not stop fighting to ensure remote communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples get the healthcare they deserve, in their homes, on country.

Incredible moments & adaptive occupational therapy interventions from our team out in NG Lands back in March/April!

🦘Bush Domino’s: encouraging problem solving and cognitive skills, following sequences and simply using symbols to have a yarn!
🦘Functional Kitchen Assessments! Bush style!: Shopping and budgeting with participants, cooking marlu tail, using gross motor and assessing upper limb function, cognitive skills and everything inbetween.
🦘 Tjunpi and Cutting down oak to make artefacts to encourage social connections to community (selling) and to also assist with over all strength, movement and range of motion in upper limbs.

So many incredible experiences that are adapted to be seen through and occupational therapy lens 🤠
