Did you catch us at KBCCI’s What’s Down the Track Forum? Our team was there - along with Bony Tony💀- sharing our early impact and exploring exciting partnership opportunities across the region.

Our Director, Prof. Fiona Doolan-Noble, presented for the second year in a row, focusing on the importance of growing our local health workforce, strengthening belonging for students on placement, and the role of place-based partnerships in building a healthier, more resilient Goldfields.

Speaking on the panel about whats ahead for the Goldfields, she highlighted the role of belonging in retaining talent (“𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮”), the importance of wellbeing as part of the region’s growth story, and the power of cross-sector collaboration to create a region that thrives from within.

The GUDRH recently had the privilege of hosting Adrian Te Patu, a distinguished international leader in Indigenous health and public health decolonisation, for an intensive two-week visit that brought together health professionals, faculty, and community stakeholders in meaningful dialogue around transforming health education and practice.

Adrian brought a unique and powerful perspective to Indigenous health advocacy from his experience as Chair of the Indigenous Working Group for the World Federation of Public Health Associations, and is a notable advisor in public health, with particular expertise in Indigenous health.

🎓🩺Congratulations to Asena, and the two other recipients of our new Home Grown Nursing Scholarships, making it easier for our local students to complete the Bachelor of Science, Nursing (EN to RN stream) right here at Curtin University Kalgoorlie.

These scholarships reflect our commitment to growing a strong regional presence through meaningful partnerships across the Goldfields. In collaboration with valued partners such as BHP, we are expanding opportunities for local students and working together to build a sustainable healthcare workforce for the region.
