β™₯️ LUCAS 3 Arrives in Kalgoorlie for 6-Month Trial

Kalgoorlie has been chosen as one of only two regional locations, alongside Geraldton, to trial the LUCAS mechanical CPR device. This cutting-edge technology will deliver consistent, high-quality cardiac care during emergencies, operated by Paramedics.

Our volunteers and Ambulance Transport Officers received awareness training on the device, as they could be crucial deploying the LUCAS in the community when required.

In a region where resources are stretched, the LUCAS device allows responders to focus on other critical tasks, ensuring the best possible care when it’s needed most.

THROW πŸ”™ THURSDAY

Hey everyone! It’s our NEW time of the week when we rewind and share some treasured moments from the Kalgoorlie Depot.

To kick things off, check out this great photo of our team posing next to a classic Ford Ambulance! This snapshot was taken just behind the Kalgoorlie Regional Health Campus, where our old station used to be.

🌟 Farewelling a Local Legend πŸ‘

Today, we bid farewell to an incredible member of the St John WA - Kalgoorlie Boulder family. After 16 years of dedication as our Regional Training Services Coordinator, Lou (Middle front row) is stepping away from her role, leaving behind a legacy that will forever impact the Goldfields region.

Lou has been a driving force behind numerous community-focused initiatives. She worked tirelessly to implement countless Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across our communities. These lifesaving devices are crucial in responding to sudden cardiac arrests, providing people with the chance to survive when every second counts. Thanks to Lou, more lives can be saved in the Goldfields and beyond.

Lou also coordinated free first aid training for high school students through grants and sponsorships. Her commitment to equipping the next generation with lifesaving skills was brought to life through engaging simulated scenarios involving paramedics, showing students the real impact of first aid. These efforts have inspired confidence and preparedness in so many young people, helping build a safer community for years to come.

Additionally, Lou’s leadership shone through their coordination of first aid training at our Kalgoorlie Training Centre and on mine sites, empowering thousands of individuals with the knowledge to respond in emergencies.

Thank you, Lou, for your unwavering dedication, passion, and the incredible impact you’ve made on our community. You’ve changed lives, inspired countless others, and created a lasting legacy in the Goldfields.

We wish you all the best in your next chapterβ€”you will be truly missed!

Congratulations, Gabby! πŸ‘πŸ₯³
