Great to see a mate of the QRDA, Mark Walker, continuing to build upon his already impressive portfolio of work in motorsport. Looks like there's no stopping that on the horizon either. People will be seeing even more content from him in future years now as part of the V8 Sleuth team.

He's been based in the South for some time but, particularly in the early 2000s, we've benefited greatly from his enthusiasm, relaxed nature and ability to communicate through words and through the lenses with all he did for the QRDA and he's been lending an assist here and there ever since.

Here's what he's up to next and where to find it:

Calling all shed-car owners, Spring is coming and so to is Round 4 of the Queensland Circuit Racing State Championship! Time to wake that beast up and get to the track.

Do you have a car that's a bit too much for QTCC and Replica Tourers to handle? Sports Sedans & Invited Cars is a good place to turn to. Have an Improved Production Car but just want to unleash it a bit more than the rules will allow? Same applies, Sports Sedans & Invited Cars are there for you to do just that at Round 4.

Queensland Raceway are the event promoter and you can enter via their interactive calendar 'right now'. You'll need an account on their system to gain access, and then it's just clicking the links from the calendar.

We go racing on September 5-7.

Categories are Sports Sedans & Invited Cars, Formula Ford, Sports & Racing Cars, Series X3 Excels, SuperMini Challenge, HQ Holdens & Qld Gemini Series, Formula Vee, along with ProdSports, Improved Production Cars & other Production Cars.

Have a wings & slicks racing car? This round there's a push to have more of your kind on the grid along with some solid numbers from the Formula Fords and Sports Cars.

Have a GT car but don't fit with ProdSports? Any GT type car racer who wants to run can find a home with Sports Sedans & Invited Cars for the weekend.

Entries are open right now, see Queensland Raceway's online calendar for more details.

Question... what do you get when you let a free ai loose with the prompt "Do just one photo realistic image to represent 1990's era Australian Sports Sedan Championship and general Sports Sedan racing in Australia ("Sports Sedans" the racing car category, not the generalised use of Sports Sedan in the passenger car market)."

Here is one result!

What do you think, how well did the black box of ai do with this one?

Our next Queensland Sports Sedan Racing event is at Queensland Raceway on September 5-7. Come out for a look or bring your car along for a race, open to all Sports Sedans and Invited Cars.

Sports Sedans just a bit too much car to work on by yourself? Formula Ford just not your thing?

There's news brewing in the Queensland Sports Car world at the moment and when it breaks cover we'll keep you posted.

In the meantime here's a picture of the locally built Minetti for the Group 2C Supersports category. Under the body there's a lot of very Sports Sedan looking parts, but smaller and lighter and not needing to work around the silhouette of a production car.

Sitting mid-ship and behind the driver is a complete motorcycle engine and gearbox, chain driving what is effectively a fwd differential in a sealed housing with an external drive cog on the left side to chain up to the bike 'box like it was still in the donor bike!

Beyond that there's double wishbones, hubs and drive shafts like any modern rear wheel drive car, and another pair of double wishbones and rack and pinion steering up front.

13 inch wheels with slick tyres, serviceable steel spaceframe chassis, fibreglass body and a little bit of aero makes for a great day out at the track or an easy go at servicing in the workshop between events.

Here's our complete role call of Queensland Circuit Racing State Championship fabricated vehicle categories:

3D Sports Sedans plus the TA2 and IRC type cars

2A Sports Cars, 2C Supersports and 6SR Sports Racers

Any 1st Category 'Racing Car' be it spaceframe, alloy tub or carbon fibre

Do you know a kart racer who just needs to get out and do something different but can't work out what that is? Our friends over at Queensland Formula Ford would be happy if you shared this little yarn with them!

Supercars your goal? Superlicence points needed? Queensland Formula Ford and the Queensland Circuit Racing State Championship have you covered.

All you need is a Cortina-powered Formula Ford, or lease a season drive, and join our expanding Queensland family.

Last year QFF celebrated as Cameron McLeod became our latest Formula Ford 1600 (Kent/Cortina) racer to progress through State Formula Ford, onto National Formula Ford, and ultimately step into a Supercar for the Bathurst 1000. This year it is planned to happen again, with the experienced and now Porsche racing Harri Jones joining Team 18 to partner a former AFFS Champion (2013) Anton De Pasquale in their shared DEWALT Camaro.

If you think you need to do karting before Formula Ford think again, Harri came to us from downhill mountain bikes! A very different pathway... He started out in circuit racing with a Kent powered Spectrum before moving into Greg Fahey Motorsport's Van Diemen FF1600 for the Queensland Formula Ford 1600 Championship. During 2016 the Jones family migrated across to their own team with a Duratec powered Spectrum 014 Formula Ford and entered the FFA-run Australian Formula Ford Series.

Jones has acquired experience in a variety of vehicles since he parked and then sold their Spectrum to the Bargwanna family for their own next generation (Ben) to enter Formula Ford, and despite the variety of categories he's run Harri has become synonymous with the Porsche Motorsport products both in Australia and overseas.

Now with his own Jones Motorsport operation handling multiple Porshe 911 racing models across a variety of competitions, don't be surprised if he like other Porsche team leaders is peering over the guard rail and keeping an eye on the next up and coming drivers in Formula Ford.

This includes rounds of the State Championship when the JM team are running customers in ProdSports. Yes, you will still see Harri at our State events from time to time.

That's when he's not driving a Carrera Cup 911 or Supercars Camaro of course.

Want more info on why Queensland use the Cortina motor, what to look for when looking for a front running car, get in touch through us with people who are 'sorta' selling their car but can't bring themselves to list it, or get an early heads up on the cars coming up at the end of the season? DM us, we can do that, point you to drive days, season lease providers and more.

Bring her home ❤️

Currently sitting on popular Australian racing car sales site my105 this Mazda RX7 was built locally in the 90's and has plenty of Queensland history.

Price has been reduced.

Give due consideration to the cost of maintaining and running race cars first, but for those who can contemplate this beast, what a car!

For those who can't there's still a Sports Sedan out there for you, look at what people are doing in Replica Tourers and QTCC to inform you and then picture all the freedoms that make those cars fast, light weight and easier to fix and maintain don't just apply to Sports Sedans too but actually Sports Sedans let you take that same concept even further again.

There's no requirement to build a spaceframe nascar-powered Supercar eater at all, just a tin body cut and edited and pushed as far as the budget allows is plenty of fun in its own right!

But if you want to step into some Queensland history and race our spaceframe Commodores, Prelude, Mustang and Monte Carlo, check out this beauty here:

Evolution of a race car 😊 known from World Time Attack but in Version 3 now just going by KING VL Sports Sedan.

Are you thinking of Replica Tourers or QTCC in the future? Don't accidentally miss the concept that if a car is planned out well from the start it can be prepared so it is dual-compliant with Sports Sedans too.

And of course, if those are still too restricted for what you want from a race car, just plain straight Queensland Sports Sedan Racing will give you a home for the car you desire, heavily modifieds just like this yellow beast!

Ashton Clements had an eventful Round 3 at Morgan Park recently.

Qualifying mid pack, he set about in the first race picking his way through and completed the 8 lap journey in the top 10, just, he was 10th.

The second race was also a Saturday affair and again over 8 laps, seeing our young member get shuffled backwards at the start but cracking the top 10 mid race, then battling up and down the order further ahead and finally settling into 8th place at the checkered flag.

Sunday on the other hand delivered some challenges. The day started with a broken gearbox on the opening lap, with an instant dnf. His crew worked their backsides off to get another unit installed in time to start rear of field for the final, and Ashton was pumped and ready for the challenge. It didn't last long, with damage on the opening lap seeing the car retired to the pits immediately.

The next outing for the QRDA drivers of Queensland Circuit Racing State Championship will be Round 4 at Queensland Raceway on September 5-7, where Ashton will surely bounce back with a smile on his face despite the less than fantastic end to Round 3.

Great to see our open wheel families out at Morgan Park Raceway this weekend. If you are looking for a path out of karts and into cars there's two groups here offering a way, with strong competition at the front meaning a good gauge of a developing driver's progress can be made.

Formula Vee Queensland were watching some of their past drivers today but then it was back into their 1600cc and 1300cc machines and back to pack racing goodness for the afternoon.

QLD Formula Ford meanwhile have been making inroads with the revamped and continuously promoted push to get their Cortina-powered FF1600 cars their own dedicated grid, with 10 entries this weekend and 4 unavailable for the round a return to the numbers from a decade ago are tantalisingly close and the hunt is on for another 5-10 drivers asap!

As former race meeting promoters still wanting to see the best for competitors all around we hope both categories have continued success and there'd be nothing better than seeing 20 of each at State Championship meetings of the future.

Check them out... even just as a casual motorsport enthusiast.
