Wednesday night isn't far away 😍 time to get out of the house, have a feed, talk motorsport, oh, and then there's the first club meeting of the year too 😁

The QRDA are known for their unwavering support of Sports Sedans racing, but did you know most of the time spent by our volunteer busy bees is actually focused on improving the show for all categories?

If you circuit race in one of Motorsport Australia's Queensland Circuit Racing State Championship categories, somewhere along the way you'll have benefited from behind the scenes work of QRDA members over several decades, and the job never stops. You don't need to take on roles to be involved, join the QRDA and just be an interested member-driver and compete for our club championships and stay in the loop with what happens at club meetings and then what we do from there to improve your sport.

For full club meetings schedules and details see our calendar on the website. If we're going to see you for the first time this Wednesday be sure to DM us and we'll send you a how to find us cheat sheet!

First '26 club meeting this Wednesday, these details lifted from our Sports Sedans eNewsletter, and there's some new faces already looking to come along 🤓

Sports Sedans drivers are represented by the QRDA Inc, hence everything membership and meeting related is interchangeable with our QRDA - Queensland Racing Drivers Association Inc. Facebook and Website.

DM us if you are coming and haven't been before.

As a drivers' club and being January we'll be looking at our in-house championship for members, which categories are supporting what events, what's changing for the new season, upgrades at, and relations with, Queensland Raceway / QR Competition Events and Morgan Park Raceway and other all-of-sport topics.

Specifically on the Sports Sedans front we'll continue looking at ways to increase participation in the Floor Pan Sports Sedans and also in the max attack Sports Sedans and Invited Cars Championships.

Racing at local MA-QCRSC events with a Trans Am, TCR, TCM, QTCC, Replica Tourer, SuperTT or the like?

As well as being a driver's association, we are also the multi-decades old representatives of Sports Sedans racing in Queensland.

And while they don't all go by the name Sports Sedans, there's more Sports Sedans type race cars out on track now than ever before!

Be sure to DM us here or on our Queensland Sports Sedan Racing page and ask to join our Sports Sedans eNewsletter to keep up to date. You don't need to be a member to get it...

But... memberships are open for both new joins and renewals via the QRDA Inc website. Even if you don't need to join a car club, think of it as a small contribution to the ongoing efforts to drive MA-QCRSC events, and the categories within, forward, while we also champion the Sports Sedans style of racing cars wherever they may race.

Thank you to all those who continue to support the QRDA through membership, as we work on generating new Sports Sedan racing interest and support our member-drivers and their teams by pushing those in charge to keep things simple and streamlined for all of us ~ in an increasingly more complex world.

The QRDA Inc. is the category-club for both Sports Sedans & Invited Cars, and Floor Pan Sports Sedan racing in Queensland. We represent the needs of local Sports Sedan racers on the National Sports Sedan Council, the group voice that works with Motorsport Australia on technical regulations for the category.

We are Motorsport Australia affiliated, so if you need a car club to join to satisfy your ‘MA membership’ for one of their license classes, we have that covered and we appear each year in their club finder system; providing verification that by joining the QRDA you have also joined Motorsport Australia.

We like to think we keep pricing under control. After years of inflation for everyone, from our side we’ve only had a slight bump in our membership fees over the years.

There are also many people who join us as a second club despite already having MA membership sorted through their category-club, while others join despite not racing at all, and reportedly this is simply in aid of supporting the QRDA and what we do beyond Sports Sedan racing for the sport, quietly behind the scenes.

We look forward to the season ahead and hope to catch up with past and new Sports Sedan, Invited Cars and Floor Pan Sports Sedan racers at a track very soon!

We’re back! Our first club meeting of 2026 is next Wednesday night. How many new faces are coming along?

If you haven’t been to a QRDA club meeting before, it’s best to reach out first and touch base, use the contacts page of our website for details:

https://qrda.asn.au/contact.php

Once again, we will be using the Geebung RSL as our home base, starting the evening with dinner upstairs in Element Restaurant, before heading to the conference room for the meeting. Gathering to eat around the 5:30 to 6:00pm mark and on, we’ll then be in the conference room around a quarter past 7.

If you can’t make this one, check out the club calendar for the rest of this year’s dates:

Doing it for our members! It’s been a tricky couple of years of changing situations for the club as the opportunity to run an annual race meeting has been placed out of reach for now, and other category-club decisions beyond our control have pulled people in and out of State Championship support and impacted our club championship, yet we have retained a significant core group of member-supporters.

Thank you to all those who continue to support the QRDA through membership, as we work on progressing the interests of all drivers and push those in charge to keep things simple and streamlined for our members in an increasingly more complex world.

Keep an eye out across our socials and our website ahead of the opening round of the new year, as we look back at the past 12 months with a focus on our leading driver-members from Season 2025.

You can prepare for 2026 as well, with a QRDA membership. We are Motorsport Australia affiliated, so if you need a car club to join to satisfy your ‘MA membership’ for one of their license classes, we have that covered and we appear each year in their club finder system for verification that by joining the QRDA you have also joined Motorsport Australia.

🔥 NEW YEAR. NEW PRODUCT. 🔥

After seeing 2 wheels absolutely thrive on this layout throughout 2025, we’re bringing the experience to FOUR WHEELS in 2026 — and it’s something completely new.

Introducing QR Short Track Attack 👊

• Two layout variants — rotated throughout the year to keep things fresh
• Perfect for smaller cars, new drivers, and anyone wanting low-pressure track time

Next-gen friendly:
Drivers 12 years and up are welcome — making this an ideal stepping stone into circuit driving.

📅 First Event:
🗓 Saturday 17th January

How are your New Year's resolutions holding up so far 😁

Hopefully all our members and followers are safe and well and had a great New Year's Eve last night, or at the very least had a good sleep 💤

Here's one for all our members across the many QCRSC categories, hitting the year running on day 1 the entries are now open for Round 1 at Queensland Raceway...

Welcome to "Q2" of the 21st Century. That's right, an entire quarter of the new millennium has been dispensed with and January 1st 2026 marks the start of a whole new quarter.

Let's celebrate with an "Entries Open" post!

Our first event of the year is at Queensland Raceway, meaning entries will be processed through the QR website's calendar. You'll need a user name and password to the website first, and you'll need to be logged in when operating the calendar.

https://www.qldraceways.com.au/calendar #/calendar

Once ready to go, navigate to February and find the "Motorsport Australia State Championship Round 1" entry on either Feb 28th or Mar 1st and select it. The dialogue that appears will have the event details, and the "Enter Now" button will take you to the entry form. The QR system 'woke up' for accepting 2026 entries overnight ready for the new year.

For cars which are competing with us in full Improved Production Car specification, so we can make life easy for point scoring, please enter under the "Improved Production" group.

For Sports Sedans, and for Invited Cars such as TA2, TCM, TCR, FIA GT cars, Nascar, Auscar, Group U Historic Sports Sedans, QTCC, Replica Tourers etc, please enter under the "Sport Sedans & Invited Tin Tops" group. Have an MA logbooked car and an MA circuit race license, but you're unsure if you would get an invite? DM us your details to discuss.

Entry fee is $522.50 and this includes a $27.50 safety & track maintenance surcharge. You'll find the surcharge appears as a line item, but ticking it on and off does not change the total.

By default the Friday Practice line item is ticked on. Please note there is no Friday Practice available for this event, so before falling over looking at the total bill remember to un-tick the Friday Practice line item!

Garages are done via the interactive paddock map on the entry form. The Supercheap row and Corporate row Garages along pit lane are $440, the original paddock lockup garages are $220, the remaining pit lane carports are $160, while the rear fenceline garages have been omitted from the map. The hardstand is available for free, but any shade systems and the like must be fastened without ground pe*******on.

MyLaps transponder rental is available, $30. MTR pre-paid photo packs and additional spectator tickets can also be added to the entry form via their respective line items. Supplementary regulations and other documentation is not available, this will be emailed to our newsletter list once it arrives.

We're pumped for the new year and the first season of 'Q2', hopefully everyone had a blast on New Year's Eve and we'll see you at QR soon enough.

Thinking of a change? What pre-2000 body/silhouette would you pick for a Sports Sedan "old school" retro build? What would you use to power it?

$2750... If you didn't know, Sports Sedans have no vehicle age restrictions, so if you want to do a brand new build with a 1964 Cortina 2-door you can go right ahead.

Picture all the Supercars, Super Tourer and GT3/4 tuning you've seen packaged into this classic shape. Maybe 2.3 Duratec with a hair dryer, one of those new Trans-Am spec 4-speed Holinger h-pattern gearboxes, a Race Products floating rear end, current specification roll cage and interior fit out...

Sports Sedan racing caters for more than just racing for the win, it allows people to build some iconic race cars for the local scene and take them to the track and get the most out of it among like minded people several times a year.

This particular for sale can be found here:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Kv43JArGP/

If you have the means to fund a Sports Sedan build but you can't do it yourself and you need people to handle it for you, don't be worried, dm us and we'll help you find some solutions to that.

In 2026 we look forward to a 6 event QCRSC, time to break open the calendars and save those dates.

The championship is being supported by the circuits, Morgan Park Raceway and Queensland Raceway, and a number of category clubs.

From the QRDA we will be delivering the Sports Sedans & Improved Production Cars & Invited Cars grid across the first 5 rounds of the year. Growth of the Floorpan Sports Sedan Championship is one of several things in focus for the year ahead. Improved Production Cars will also be making the change from Yokohama across to Bridgestone for their control tyre.

Series X3 Excels will be in full force, with the addition of a State of Origin event at Round 4.

ProdSports return as the home for everything production sports car, a category for cars of varying levels of modification from MG's and MX5's to 911's and Vipers they will also have a mix of Sprint and Enduro formats.

SuperMini Challenge goes from strength to strength and we know ourselves of competitors who are planning to join the Mini brigade starting in 2026.

Sports & Racing Cars continue to work away, with the local Minetti constructor having changed ownership and is now undergoing a reimagining as part of a renewed push to expand Supersports, while Australian Formula Open will have an event at QR as part of Round 5.

Formula Vee and Formula Ford 1600 are both bringing their enthusiastic clubs to the table and continue to provide great racing and plenty of economical open wheel racing cars to the events.

HQ Holdens are working away at returning more cars to the race track next year, adding to the 2025 attendees and are fully focused on delivering more upon more of the classic HQ-style of one-make racing. They'll be interspersed with the plucky Qld Gemini Series cars, racing for their own club championship within a race.

Then there are a number of visitor categories who will be dropping in at different events, making for 6 weekends away with plenty of variety and racing to see. Be part of it, from either side of the armco, save the dates for the QCRSC in 2026 and come and have fun.

Add to it by being part of the QRDA for the year, the driver's club for Queenslanders, renew or apply from the website now for 2026.
