My happy place.

Toorongo Valley Estate is my happy place.

It’s the most tranquil, beautiful space that allows me to slow down and just be present. When I’m here, the endless to-do lists seem to fade away. Oops I always plan to get so much done and then I get lost in the environment.
I find myself observing.
Watching the river flowing.
Listening to the birds.
Feeling the land around me.

It’s where my mind becomes calm and my creativity starts to flow again.
I find myself visualising the future… imagining people gathering here, couples getting married, families reconnecting, friends celebrating, communities coming together.

This land feels sacred to me.
There is something deeply special about it, and it’s held in my soul every day. I feel incredibly grateful to care for this beautiful place and to share it with others who come here to connect with nature, with each other, and with themselves.

Toorongo Valley Estate really is something special.

If I could go back and sit beside the teenage girl I once was, there are a few things I’d want her to know.
Not because she did anything wrong…
but because she didn’t yet realise how powerful she was.
So many of us spent parts of our teenage years wanting to belong, wanting approval, and sometimes ignoring that quiet voice inside us.
If you could give one piece of wisdom to the girl you once were…
what would it be?
I’d love to hear it.
And if you have a daughter, niece, or young woman in your life, maybe this is something worth sharing with her

Yesterday I shared about rites of passage for teenagers.
About how I’m excited to bring rites of passage onto our land. So that we can support young people transition as they move from childhood into adulthood.
And since then, I’ve been sitting with something.
As our children grow and change, we do too.
When they step into more independence… something shifts in us as mothers.
It’s can be subtle and it can feel like a sledge hammer🥴😄. Some of us will hold it quiet.
I’ve felt it in my own journey, the letting go, the redefining, the questions of who I am in this next season.
It’s not always obvious.
But it’s real.
It’s a rite of passage happening alongside theirs.
And I’m realising how important it is that we don’t navigate that shift alone.
because growth deserves space.
I’m feeling drawn to create more of that space again.
Not as an expert.
Not as someone with answers.
Just as a woman who understands that these seasons matter and we always need more fun.

Lately I’ve just been feeling this more and more.
Watching my kids move through their teenage years… and having conversations about holding rites of passage here at Toorongo… it feels important to me.
This land has always felt like a place for people to feel supported, connected, to grow and to celebrate who they’re becoming.
Rites of passage just feels like a natural extension of that.
I’d love to share more as it unfolds 🩶

I’ve just returned from a few days in Renmark sharing Rites of Passage work — and my heart is full.
What stood out most wasn’t just the conversations, but the care and passion that poured from the teachers I met. Their commitment to whole-child wellbeing is real, grounded, and deeply inspiring.
A special acknowledgment to St Francis of Assisi — thank you for welcoming these conversations with such openness and heart. Our young people thrive when schools like yours champion their growth and transformation. And of course grateful and inspired by the one and only .crafty.adventurer #
