Today is International Day of People with Disability.

Today is a day to recognise, understand and raise awareness and acceptance of those with a disability, today is a day to recognise the skills and the phenomenal efforts of 5.5 million Australian's who live with a disability!

We are very excited to launch our monthly Friday Night Out for Teens aged 15-18!

The free sessions are fully funded by the Belgravia Foundation and Light Regional Council to encourage Teens in our region to get out and about on a Friday night!

Another week ticked off in the book, welcome to !

Did you know that on this day in 1966, that's 57 years ago, the space craft "Lunar Orbiter 1" took the first photo of the Earth from the Moon! Only 3 years later in 1969 we would send humans to land on the Moon for the first time!

We are back with our 's, we took a very unexpected break from these on our socials over the past few weeks by mistake of a few buttons presses not sending out our post's to the interwebs of Facebooks and Instagram!

Here's our first Fun Friday to get us back into the swing of them, this is a super important to those with a disability in the United States of America, the US President at the time George H. W. Bush sign the Americans with a disabilities Act into American Law, this meant that any and all discrimination against those who have a disability is illegal!

Did you know Services Australia have mobile service centres?

They visit regional and remote areas providing Centrelink services, and information on Medicare and Veterans Affairs.

A mobile service centre is currently making its way around the Mid-north, Yorke Peninsula, Barossa Valley before going to Kangaroo Island and Fleurieu Peninsula.

Our mobile service centres (MSCs) travel around Australia, stopping to provide services in rural and regional communities.

If you haven't heard the sunflower fire engine is coming to Gawler and Tanunda, tomorrow!

Sunflower fire truck spreads sunshine in Gawler🌻

A fire truck is set to turn heads for a different reason when arriving in Gawler this Friday, 12 July.

A South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) fire truck has been coloured green and displays sunflowers as part of an ongoing awareness campaign to promote understanding and support for individuals with hidden disabilities.

The sunflower, an internationally recognised symbol for hidden disabilities, serves as a signal indicating that a person may need a helping hand, understanding, or more time in various public spaces.

Member for Light, Tony Piccolo MP, was approached by an autistic member of the Gawler community, Christopher Geen, in the hope of bringing the truck to the region.

The Office for Autism and Hidden Disabilities were part of the initiative with the MFS, and the State Assistant Minister for Autism, Emily Bourke MLC, was more than happy to assist when both Mr Geen and Mr Piccolo asked for her assistance to bring the truck to the region.

The truck will be at Gawler’s Apex Park (7 Julian Terrace) between 11.30am and 12.30pm. Come check it out and have a chat!
