Today, we acknowledge the innovation of Braille, a tactile writing system that has transformed accessibility for people who are blind or have low vision. Braille is more than just dots on a page; it’s a gateway to literacy, independence, and inclusion.
International Braille Day reminds us of the importance of creating a world where information is accessible to everyone. Whether it’s books, signage, or digital content, accessibility empowers individuals and strengthens communities.
Let’s continue to advocate for inclusive practices and celebrate the achievements of those who champion accessibility every day.

Daniel Clarke, who has cerebral palsy, graduated from Griffith University Queensland with first-class honours, overcoming fatigue and support challenges with strong staff support. Already a respected advocate and conservationist, his honours thesis analysed community transport funding, technology and user needs. His research drew on lived experience and he now works on a quantum computing project to improve mobility access for people with disability at the 2032 Games.

🌟 Lived Experience at the Heart of IDPWD 🌟

This year’s International Day of People with Disability event is something truly special — because every presenter, storyteller and performer brings real lived experience to the stage.

Representation matters.
Voice matters.
Community wisdom matters.

And when we centre lived experience, we create space for stories that educate, empower, challenge assumptions, and remind us what true inclusion looks and feels like.

We are so excited to welcome a diverse lineup of presenters and performers who embody resilience, leadership, advocacy, creativity and community connection. Their stories reflect the richness of disability culture — from sport, policy, and adventure, to sibling perspectives, peer connection, and youth talent.

✨ this is what celebrating IDPWD is all about. ✨

Join us as we learn from, honour, and celebrate the people whose experiences lead the way forward.
We can’t wait to share this day with you. 💙💛

Your provider’s role is to deliver safe, person-centred supports and services.

An independent advocate’s role is to represent you – and only you – without conflict or competing interests.

Providers can share factual information about NDIS services and refer you to independent advocacy organisations. But they cannot represent you as your advocate.

Separating these roles keeps boundaries clear and your rights protected.

Chalkin’ 4 Health

Every Saturday Morning in December!

So we’re doing this thing every Saturday morning in December called Chalkin’ 4 Health, and it’s basically a super chill space to draw, hang out, and just breathe for a bit.

You don’t have to talk to anyone if you don’t want to. Seriously, you can just show up, grab some chalk, and do your own thing. Drawing is sometimes way easier than trying to put stuff into words, and that’s kinda the whole idea.

We’ve actually been saving our cans so we could buy heaps of chalk for everyone. So yeah, everything’s there, free, and ready to use.

We’ve also got idea sheets and little prompts if you’re stuck and don’t know what to draw or write.

December can be a lot for people. So Chalkin’ 4 Health is our way of bringing people together without it being awkward or overwhelming.

Hope to see you there!
