Let’s dive into Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)! 🌟

PBS is a person-centered approach designed to support individuals facing challenging behaviors. Instead of aiming to 'fix' these behaviors, PBS focuses on meeting individual needs and bridging gaps in support. This understanding allows us to address the reasons behind challenging behavior, highlighting stress, distress, and skill development.

Think PBS could be right for your family? We currently have minimal wait times for this service, with three experienced practitioners ready to help your child.

This week we're celebrating Speech Pathology Week πŸ₯³. Everyone communicates differently, whether it’s spoken, signed, digital, or written, communication bridges gaps, fosters meaning and understanding, and strengthens relationships. It’s about making connections and expressing ourselves in unique ways.

In Australia, an estimated 1.2 million Australians have communication support needs. From 24-30 August, we're celebrating Speech Pathology Week, amazing Speech Pathologists and the diverse way that people communicate.

Speech pathologists empower people to communicate their way. This might include:
πŸ’¬ Using their voice to speak
πŸ’¬ Aided devices such as AAC aids and technology
πŸ’¬ Unaided supports like Auslan and Keyword Sign..

Meet our talented OT, Lara! πŸ‘‹ Lara grew up on her family's farm in the Wheatbelt before moving to Perth for boarding school and university.

With a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Curtin University, graduating with Honours, Lara balanced being a swimming instructor and paediatric support worker, alongside a workplace placement with us right here in Karratha. Lara is incredibly passionate about enhancing access to quality services for regional families.

In her spare time, you can find Lara exploring the Pilbara, swimming, and spending time with her dog, Lola. 🐾
