Meet WIKKEDmerch Apparel Printing, our April Grow Local Business in the Spotlight!

🔶Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what your business does?
My name is Pete Howard, born and raised right here in Karratha, my passion for art and creativity has been a massive part of my life for as long as I remember, so starting WIKKEDMERCH was a no brainer really. We print hats, shirts, hoodies, shorts, stubby holders, bar mats, paint artwork and murals, and take passion and pride in the designing of merchandise also. We constantly strive to bring a whole new industry to the Pilbara region with Karratha at the heart, where customers can see their own ideas and creations come to life, whether its retail ready brand merch, event merch, staff shirts, or promotional items.

🔶What led you to connect with KDCCI’s Grow Local program?
What led us to connect with KDCCI and the team was the want to further our reach to more people and keep up the theme of "Local business supporting local business", and to help us navigate the stresses and roadblocks of small business in Karratha.

🔶What kind of support have you received through Grow Local, and how has it helped your business so far?
The Grow Local program has given us many ideas and help on reaching our goals, giving us insight and information we weren't sure how or where to find, and providing us new ways to connect with local businesses in Karratha.

🔶What’s next for your business over the next 12 months?
We've recently acquired our brand new printing equipment, meaning quicker turn around times, new stock updates, and upgrades to our current workspace are coming soon! Further down the line we are expecting he implementation of an Embroidery set up and a full sublimation set up which means fully printed polo shirts for your office wear and fishing shirts are well on the way soon!

Meet Baby Massage by Anna - our March Grow Local Business in the Spotlight!

🔶Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what your business does?
Hi, I’m Anna, an occupational therapist and Infant massage consultant and the owner of Baby Massage by Anna. I’ve been running baby massage classes over the past year in SA and recently moved up here at the start of this year where I’m now hoping to build my business locally. I run small, relaxed group classes for parents and their babies from birth to pre-crawling. In the sessions, I guide parents through gentle baby massage techniques and teach them the strokes step-by-step, so they can confidently massage their own baby. Alongside the techniques, we also talk about things like sleep, digestion and settling, but a big focus is on connection, confidence, and creating a calm, supportive space for both baby and parent.

🔶What led you to connect with KDCCI’s Grow Local program?
When I started my business, I realised quickly that while I felt confident in running the classes side of things, I wanted more support with the business side. Things like marketing, systems and knowing what steps to take next felt a bit overwhelming. I was actually recommended the Grow Local program by another local businesswoman who spoke really highly of it, and it felt like a great fit being something that supports local businesses and connects you with people who understand what it’s like starting out.

🔶What kind of support have you received through Grow Local, and how has it helped your business so far?
It’s been really helpful having access to practical advice and support around setting things up and promoting my classes. I’ve also found it really valuable being connected with other local business owners and feeling like I’m not doing it all on my own. Carly has been amazing; she has definitely made the whole process feel a lot more manageable and given me more confidence moving forward.

🔶What’s next for your business over the next 12 months?
Over the next 12 months I’m really looking to grow and expand the business. At the moment I'll be running classes one day a week, but I’d love to build that up to a couple of days as things grow. Hopefully over the next 12 months I might start to think about offering 1:1 private sessions alongside the group classes and possibly changing the structure a little to better suit different families. My focus is to keep creating a really welcoming, supportive space for parents, while making baby massage more flexible and accessible.
