World Acupuncture Day – A Moment to Honour an Ancient Healing Tradition
Today is World Acupuncture Day, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on this remarkable medicine and the intention behind the day itself.
World Acupuncture Day marks the anniversary of acupuncture being recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The purpose of the day is to celebrate the depth of Chinese medicine, acknowledge the growing body of evidence supporting acupuncture’s effectiveness, and recognise the many people around the world who benefit from this gentle yet profound healing art.
For me, acupuncture is far more than a profession — it has been my calling for over 20 years. I left my engineering career in 2004 to dedicate myself fully to Chinese medicine, and I’ve never looked back. Over the decades, I’ve supported thousands of people with issues ranging from stress, sleep concerns, digestion, hormonal health, and lingering illness to deeper emotional imbalances. This work continues to inspire me every day.
I’ve been honoured to receive recognition along the way, including awards for both my practice and the clinics I’ve founded, but what matters most is witnessing how this medicine supports people to feel more grounded, more comfortable in their bodies, and more connected to their own innate capacity for healing.
Acupuncture offers a holistic way of tending to body, mind, and spirit. It works with the body’s natural intelligence, helping to restore balance, ease discomfort, calm the nervous system, and support overall vitality.
If you’ve been thinking about acupuncture — or if someone you know could benefit from gentle, supportive care — I’m available here in Katoomba and would be honoured to work with you.
