T H R O W B A C K T H U R S D A Y ⏳️

Today in our Throwback Thursday series we’re taking a step back in time to celebrate one of our founders, Mr Harold Greenwell.

Born in 1887, Harold Greenwell played a key role in shaping what would become a much-loved part of the Katoomba community. In 1911, he married Sarah (Sadie), and together they built both a family and a legacy, raising four children while establishing their place in local history.

In the early 1920s, Greenwell and Thomas Pharmacy proudly opened its doors as an “up-to-date pharmacy,” known for dispensing prescriptions using only the purest drugs. By 1923, the business had expanded, becoming affectionately known as the “Top Shop” and “Bottom Shop” by locals.

After Harold’s retirement, the business was proudly passed down to his son, Neville Greenwell, who continued the family tradition of care and service.

We’ll be sharing more about Neville and his contribution in a future Throwback Thursday post.

Even decades later, the legacy of care, connection, and community spirit that Mr Greenwell helped build continues to inspire everything we do today.
