ℹ️ Overuse injuries in running are often quite different to an acute injury (such as an ankle sprain).

Acute injuries will usually continue to improve with rest and a progression back into normal use over a fairly short period of time.

Overuse injuries on the other hand can be VERY annoying because even after rest (and a complete resolution of pain) they come back as soon as we start running again 😡

As this continues we then get stuck in a "pain ➡️ rest ➡️ resume activity ➡️ pain" cycle (known as 'boom/bust') that ultimately leads to frustration and deconditioning.

🔥 The answer? 🔥

1️⃣ Identify which tissues are injured (diagnosis)
2️⃣ Break the boom/bust cycle (Load management)
3️⃣ Optimise recovery (Sleep, diet etc.)
4️⃣ Rebuild injured tissue capacity (Strength/endurance training)
5️⃣ Progressive return to running OR Progressive increase in running

Brisbane sessions are delivered out of Physical Addiction Health and Fitness in Stafford Heights (no gym memberships required) and Sunshine Coast sessions are available on a mobile basis.

We have multiple trainers with degrees in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology and Physiotherapy!
