Dr Daelyn Cullen moved rooms in Feb 2019 and now works on two days a week at Our Family Health Care in Clayfield, two days a week for Reds Rugby Union, and in surgery on Fridays. Dr Cullen worked as a Sports Physician in Perth from 1997-2010 when she shifted to Brisbane. She has over 25 year’s involvement with community and elite Rugby Union in Perth and Brisbane. She was assistant doctor to the Western Force for 2010 and the Match Doctor and medical coordinator (WA) during the Rugby World Cup in 2003. Between 2001 and 2005, Daelyn travelled overseas with the Hockeyroos and Aust Hockey development squads, and more recently with Aust Waterpolo in 2013. Here in Brisbane she has been involved with QAS swimming, hockey and waterpolo, and continues to work as Team Dr for Qld Reds rugby union. Daelyn has also been involved in many other sports such as running, triathlon, motorcross, basketball, swimming, tennis and kite surfing. Daelyn gained her ACSP Specialist qualification in 2007 and has been the State Training Coordinator in Perth from then until 2010 when she left Perth. Before that she was the Medical & Educational Director for Sports Medicine Australia (SMA). Daelyn specialises in managing acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries – such as patellofemoral and knee pain, shoulder impingement and bursitis, hip injuries, back and neck problems, and foot pain. She has worked closely with many athletes as diverse as runners to motorcross riders. She enjoys working with the athlete and their physio at assessing biomechanics, particularly wrt shoulder mechanics and running lower limb injuries. Daelyn completed IRB level 3 Immediate Care in Rugby in 2014 and IRB Medical Educators Courses with the aim of improving medical management of trauma on the rugby field amongst sports trainers and medical personnel. She is now employed by Word Rugby as a Medical Educator, teaching on trauma throughout Oceania.
