Today we would like to thank for dedicating there time and there adorable draft horses for a visit today at Holloway. It was incredible to see these enormous gentle animals interact with our residents. The smiles it out on everyone's face was priceless.

🐣 Egg hunts aren’t just for kids! The Easter long weekend is an opportunity for older people to get outdoors and enjoy the autumn weather, stay active and connect with others.

Simple activities like an outdoor egg hunt can encourage gentle movement and shared moments of joy.😊

With a few thoughtful adjustments, everyone can take part. Try hiding eggs at eye level or placing them higher to reduce the need for bending.

If you have a loved one in an aged care home, consider including them this long weekend. Even an hour spent together over a cuppa can make a meaningful difference, especially for those who may be experiencing loneliness.

⚠️ If you’re bringing along Easter treats, it’s always a good idea to check first. Changes in diet or health can affect what someone is able to enjoy safely.

Let’s make this Easter break a time of connection, inclusion and care for everyone. 💕

Holloway is creating a Dementia Sensory Garden.

We need your help.

We are searching for the following items. Some of you may have some lying around or know someone who might.

- old steel wheelbarrows
- gumboots that have coloured patterns
- bird baths or bird feeders
- wind chimes
- large and medium size pots
- large rocks
- wine barrels or large wooden boxes
- gnomes or oriniments such as animals
- old mirror

All items can be dropped off to Holloway at
1 Rotary Drive, Keilor East.

We can not wait to show everyone this space.

Where:
For people in Northern Country, North East, East Gippsland and West and South Gippsland Districts

Locations likely to be impacted include Albury-Wodonga, Seymour and Shepparton.

When:
A prolonged period of heat is forecast for Victoria this week peaking over the next few days.

Situation:
In the north, maximum temperatures in the low to mid forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to low twenties, increasing to low to high twenties by Friday.

In the south, maximum temperatures in the mid thirties to low forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the low to mid teens, increasing to high teens to low twenties in the southeast by Thursday.

Severe to Extreme heatwave conditions forecast to ease from the southwest with a cooler change over the weekend.

What you should do:
*Extreme heatwaves can be dangerous for everyone.
*Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
*Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
*Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
*If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
