Connected Kids Speech Pathology

This week we are having some Halloween fun in our groups! We have been working on sequencing concepts using Room On The Broom!

Sequencing concepts are often challenging and can impact literacy as well as other school subjects such as maths. We are using concepts such as:
- first
- last
- after
- before
- second
- third
- fourth

We are also working on problem solving and some other skills such as cutting and pasting.

Who ever said learning new vocabulary had to be dull?!

Our Mid Primary Narrative kiddos spent some time carefully considering word meanings on Friday - their task was to select a word in their card set that best matched a scenario and then be prepared to indicate why theirs should be the best selected.

We have some Spooky Speech themed activities planned for next week - feel free to dress up when you come in for your session! Dress up for your individual session or group session, and help us decorate our spooky speech walls!

This week our Kindergarten Concepts kiddos are focusing on learning about feelings! 😄🤩😡😭🥺🤯🫣

Being able to talk about feelings and describe what is going on in our bodies is so important to assist with regulation, managing big emotions and can often be challenging for those just starting school.

Our kindergarten concepts kids have been very busy learning this week! We focused on the story Where Is The Green Sheep - after enjoying the book we completed a sequencing task with some home made story stones.

This activity allowed us to practise skills including:
- turn taking
- matching
- left to right orientation
- sequence concepts - first, next, then, last
- opposites
- adjectives
and so much more!

Our Minecraft Makers groups have seen us sharing so much connection, learning and joy this week. It was incredible to see peers connect so quickly over shared interests, as well as the creativity and problem solving used throughout the group sessions. We have heard that kiddos were counting down to these groups and can't stop talking about them afterwards - creating experiences to enjoy and discuss is what we are all about!

This week in our Brilliant Bodies group we explored:
- what happens at the doctor and dentist
- different body parts and feelings
- regulation exercises such as yoga stretches
- different emotions and how to label them
and so much more, all while having fun!
