Enjoying some holiday downtime? Here’s a great conversation to tune into. 🎧

Earlier this year, Goro Gupta and Nicole Doherty joined the Disability Housing Solutions Podcast — and they had so much to share that it became a two-part special.

They dive into what’s next for SDA, why collaboration matters, and how we can keep building homes that genuinely change lives.

The entire Empowered Liveability team sends our love to the people of Bondi, the families caught in the events of last night and to the wider community who have been left to make sense of it all.

May those affected find peace, strength and comfort.

When a team is united by purpose, incredible things happen ✨

As we reflect on 2025, we’re proud of what Empowered Liveability has achieved together — not just as an organisation, but as a collective of people driven by one shared goal: improving outcomes, choice, and quality of life for participants across the NDIS.

This year was about collaboration over competition, learning together, showing up for our sector, and celebrating the real wins that matter most — participants moving into safe, accessible homes, families staying together, and communities becoming more inclusive.

From education events and advocacy to partnerships, innovation and everyday teamwork behind the scenes, 2025 reminded us that success isn’t accidental. It’s built when passionate people pull in the same direction, challenge the status quo, and stay focused on why we do this work.

As we set our sights on 2026, we’re energised, aligned, and ready to keep raising the bar — for participants, for providers, and for the future of Specialist Disability Accommodation. 🚀

Here’s to what’s possible when purpose leads the way. 💙

What a day in Geelong! 💜

Last Thursday, 4th December, Tanya and Nicole had the pleasure of hosting our final Lunch & Learn for the year in Geelong, alongside our fantastic collaborators from eQuality Support, Aruma, and Satellite Support Services.

The session focused on navigating Home & Living supports within the NDIS — a topic that continues to be so important for participants, families, and providers alike.

A special acknowledgement goes to Tanya, whose hard work brought together an incredible panel of knowledgeable, generous speakers. We are truly grateful to each of our panelists for sharing their time, insights, and passion with the local community.

As we look toward 2026, we’re excited to support even more Geelong participants to access safe, accessible housing and the independence they deserve.

Here’s to learning, collaboration and creating better housing outcomes together! ☕

Recognition matters — more than many people realise.

Across all industries (and especially in the NDIS space), celebrating achievements lifts morale, sparks innovation, strengthens teams, and reminds us why we do this work.

From awards nights to everyday shout-outs, recognition creates a culture where people feel valued — and when people feel valued, incredible things happen.

Curious why recognition has such a powerful impact?

We also spent part of today at the Friend in Me and Liberty Disability Services event for IDPwD, where Dyson shared Dyson’s powerful story after his footy field accident.

These were just some of the things Dyson shared during his talk:

Dyson’s story was awesome to hear first hand.

On bad days:
“when I have bad days I make sure it’s only one, not 3 or 4, I let myself be miserable for one day and then I go to bed and wake up feeling better the next day”

On his accident and the moment he knew:
“the ambulance took 50 minutes to arrive, it wasn’t until I saw the look on the coaches face I realised it was bad”

On building their home:
“we’ve been able to build what’s truly our dream home, Em got her walk in pantry, and I’ve got a space outside for entertaining. We put the laundry in the garage which has freed up room in the house to be used for something else”

On his mission:
“nowadays I just want to help people’

On life before his acquired disability:
“i was so active before my accident, I had a JetSki, boat, dirtbike, harley, I lost all my hobbies instantly”

On dealing with his disability:
“I came to terms with my accident pretty quickly, my accident happened during Covid, no one could enter the hospital”

Dyson’s story was awesome to hear firsthand — honest, raw, and full of heart.

Thank you, Dyson, for using your voice.

Let’s keep raising awareness, deepening acceptance, and committing to do better.

Another highlight from today: Mary-Lou represented our team at Aruma’s Art-ability Exhibition for IDPwD.

A beautiful celebration of creativity, self-expression, and the incredible talent within our disability community.

Events like this remind us how important it is to create spaces where people are seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are.

More highlights from today’s events still to come. 💜✨

Today, our team is out across multiple events in celebration of International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) — standing with our communities, listening to lived experiences, and supporting greater inclusion and visibility.

Our first stop: City of Melton Council’s Walk for IDPwD and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

A powerful event bringing together families, advocates, and local organisations committed to creating safer, more inclusive communities for all.

We’ll be sharing highlights from all the events our team attends today — stay tuned as we take you along with us. 💜✨
