Good evening everyone,

Just letting you all know we will be using the alternate course this Saturday. This is sadly due to the recent hot weather which has caused a large number of deaths of the bats within the colony in Brimbank park and Parks Victoria will need some time to clean this up.

At this stage the alternate course is likely to only be used this week but we will continue to update weekly if required.

We have many amazing people who regularly come to Brimbank parkrun. Two of our wonderful participants are raising money for children living with Autism, as part of their adventure for the Hut2Hut 100 challenge.

Below is information for the trivia night to raise money, and a link to the website
(I hope. If I haven't posted the link properly I will post again).

🌞🥵 Today’s parkrun was fuelled by sunshine, sweat, and strong life choices. Everyone did something tough today, and much respect to you all.

It was parkrun #370 at Brimbank, and we had 138 people join us today, for quite a warm one.

We had 30 people join us at Brimbank for the first time - thank you so much for visiting us, hope to see you again.

Even though it was quite warm (I keep mentioning it), 20 people achieved a PB on our course today. CONGRATULATIONS 🎊.

Big congratulations to Joshua Nguyen on 50 parkruns. Well done!🔥

Also we could not have run today's event without the support of our wonderful volunteers, thank you so much:- Anthony Nguyen, Gareth Rees, Katie Rees, Sam Osman and Thomas Rees.

If you are ever thinking of volunteering, or want to volunteer, please chat to us at the event, or drop us an email at Brimbank@parkrun.com.

It looks like it is going to be another warm one tomorrow!

First up - we still have a volunteer spot available for the First Timer's Welcome. This is such a great role and will allow you to also earn a run/walk credit. If this is something you would like to do tomorrow, please let us know!

As far as we aware, Brimbank parkrun will proceed as normal but as always please do check the page in the morning in case of changed conditions (this applies for any parkrun you may visit)

Please note - there are no usable drinking taps on our course. Only at the start/finish line. Please hydrate today and carry hydration with you on the course tomorrow if required. It is predicted to be 18c at 8am & 22c by 9am.

Also warm weather does mean there is always a slight possibility that a snake could be on the course. If you do run with younger children please make them aware of what they should do if they spot a snake.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow

Did you know that there is a Junior parkrun Event just around the corner from Brimbank?

Aintree Reserve junior parkrun is held every Sunday at 8am. Designed for children aged 4-14, this is a 2km course when your child can run, walk or both. Because there are marshalls along the whole course, your child does not need to run with their parent or guardian however you are most welcome to join them if that would make them more comfortable.

Junior parkruns do require a large group of volunteers to be able to run so if you would like to volunteer it is quite easy, you will just need a Working with Childrens Check (volunteer) which is free to obtain. Volunteering at Junior parkrun also counts towards your parkrun volunteer total

Well done to everyone who joined us for event #369

We had 120 people who ran or walked our course on a warm morning.

Congratulations to the following people who achieved milestones
🟣 Samar who joined the 25 CLUB
⚫️ Francesca who joined the 100 CLUB

We welcomed 7 people who completed their first EVER parkrun yesterday. We hope you loved our course and hope to see you again this Saturday - same time, same place

Hello to 18 people who experienced Brimbank parkrun for the first time. Thank-you for visiting and hope to see you again soon

We know that parkrun isn't a race but it does feel pretty good to achieve your best time ever on our course. 11 of you did just that! We hope your PB's are short lived

Finally, there would be no Brimbank parkrun without our AMAZING volunteers. A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered this week - Candice, Scarlett, David, Cinzia, Natasha, Shaun & Amanda.

A big thank-you as well to the handful of people who put their name down to volunteer for future weeks. The roster was looking a bit empty a couple of days ago and whilst there are still plenty of roles to fill the roster is looking in much better shape than previously.

Looking to next week - we have one more CORE role to fill - First Timer's Welcome. A great role if you want to get a run or walk in as well. If you want to put your name down for this role, comment below or e-mail brimbank@parkrun.com

Our future roster can be view here - https://www.parkrun.com.au/brimbank/futureroster/

Have a great week and we will see you next weekend when Amanda will be your Run Director.

** Missing Tokens**

We have had two tokens go missing this morning, numbers 19 & 68. They are linked to unknown athletes so perhaps someone new to parkrun that did not realise we need the tokens back?

If either one of these tokens are in your possession, please let us know, we would love to be able to get them back home.

Also there is a known issue with parkrun results today. We hope this will be resolved soon. The results are currently available to view in the 5k app

Event Summary to follow later this weekend.

Who is looking forward to parkrun tomorrow? We were able to fill our volunteer roster (the Run Director may have bribed her daughter with the promise of robux!) so we are ready to go

If you are new to parkrun or have not attended Brimbank parkrun before, our first timer's welcome will be held at 7.50am. We will be able to tell you about our course and answer any questions you may have. We meet outside of the cafe near car park A.

Tomorrow, Candice will be your Run Director.

We do kindly ask that during the Run Director's briefing that you remain quiet whether it is your 1st or 250th parkrun. We need to be able to communicate important information each week and it can be difficult to speak over multiple voices. We do really appreciate your assistance with this.

The Run Director's briefing will be held at 7.55am followed by parkrun commencing at 8am.
Please ensure that you are on time for the event so that our volunteer team, including the tail walker, know you are taking part in parkrun.

See you all in the morning!

Final appeal - Volunteer Call Out for a Timekeeper

We would hate to use the word 'cancel' but we have really struggled to fill our volunteer roster this week. :( At this stage we still need at least one more person to be our timekeeper.

If we are not able to fill this role by 8pm this evening we will need to cancel our event for this weekend.

If you can help out please comment below or send an email brimbank@parkrun.com

We are still looking for a timekeeper & barcode scanner for this weekend's parkrun. Are you able to help out? All you need is a smart phone to be a hi-vis hero!

Good morning!

Our roster is looking quite empty for this weekend. At this stage there will be no one handing barcodes or anyone to record your time.

If you are able to volunteer this weekend, please let us know. We are required to fill in the following core roles, otherwise we will be forced to cancel our event

- Timekeeper
- Barcode Scanner
- Finish Tokens

If you can't volunteer, maybe you could like/love this post or leave an emoji in the comments? Our posts are not being seen by a majority of our followers so we would love to be able to get back in everyone's feeds.

You can comment below or send us an email brimbank@parkrun.com

Thank you!
