In my practice with clients my aim is to empower people with the tools to listen to their own body, to learn what works for the individual and to have it not be a short term fix, but a change in lifestyle that is sustainable for the long term.

You know what really upsets me?

When women are told their abdominal separation will repair on its own in time.

Or worse, that doing some crunches will help repair it.

If you have experienced this kind of dismissal I am here to support you on your quest to repair your abdominal wall, with the correct exercises and training.

The next round of Primal Core Group Training is specifically for you!

If you are a woman who:

➡️ Has a separation of the abdominal wall (diastasis recti)
➡️ Wants to work specifically on restoring the abdominal wall
➡️ Has been pregnant

This 6 week block of training is for you. You will be training in a small group of 4 women in my private studio in Keilor, where you will receive premium coaching at an affordable price.

With 20 years experience in coaching women, having given birth to three children myself and successfully recovered from a 7 finger width separation and a surgery for two hernias in my abdominal wall, you will be in expert hands.

I know what it feels like to feel like your organs are not protected and when you bend over, that everything is going to fall out.

I also know what it feels like to regain that core strength and confidence in your body and how that affects many other aspects in your life.

Beginning March 14
Fridays – 10.30am
30 minute group training session

If this is you, and you are done with living with a separation in your abdominal wall, comment below or like this post and I will get you more information.

PS. This 6 week block is at 2024 prices. From April the price will be going up.

Rookie error.
Despite the beautiful sunrise my surf this morning was sh*tty.
I even bodyboarded a couple of waves on my surfboard.
In retrospect thinking about it I realised that I didn’t warm up like I have been for the last few weeks. I skipped it because I was running late.
It felt like it took me 20 mins to wake my body up.
I won’t be doing that again!
Can you relate to a surf like this?

Free Surf Coaching!
On the left.
It’s a thing we are doing at URBNSURF and this week I have three shifts in it.
And man am I loving it!
I get to talk about surfing to people for an hour!
I get to give guests expert advice, if they want it! (And who doesn’t want free expert advice right?)
But I have also noticed that when people are invested in making one small improvement – the One Per Cent – and other people hear what they are working on, the vibration lifts and everyone suddenly becomes a cheerleader!
And when you have a bunch of people cheering you on, you can’t help but smile and have a good time.
And people start to understand the benefits of expert coaching. And how it can take their surfing from mediocre to much better, in a short time.
Did you know that I also give free advice on land based surf specific training?

Now feels like a really good time to chat about this.
Because although I wear my stoke on my face, the reasons behind why I am a Surf Coach and a Chek Practitioner – a corrective exercise coach and holistic lifestyle coach – aren’t always obvious.
The way humans work physically as well as emotionally, how they navigate through their lives, and the stories they tell themselves in helping create that life is fascinating.
I love delving into why people find themselves unable to move forward in health, and in fact sabotage themselves, and help them uncover those reasons and fulfil their potential.
But how did that lead me to becoming a Surf Coach?
You could say I like throwing myself in the deep end. I know that I do my best work when I feel challenged and jumping deep into surfing culture – like learning a whole new language – and the sport of surfing has been profound.
Physically I wanted to coach surfers because the movement patterns used in the sport are like no other sport on the planet. Surfing is an extreme sport that places huge demands on the nervous system and the musculoskeletal systems.
Quite simply, to unpack all the movement patterns and how they are performed on the water and in the air, often times within a matter of seconds, is something I think about daily. It’s like a song I can’t get out of my head that is equally enjoyable as it is in driving you nuts!
Layer that with the sub culture of rebellion and it’s the perfect playground for a coach like myself who looks at people through a holistic lense of how each system of the body works either together or against itself.
There is enough to unpack with surfers to give me a lifetime of learning!
So to sum it up, the reason why I love coaching surfers, and why I do what I do, is because I love to be challenged but I also love to help people reach their full potential in movement and in mindset.

On open Duty Manager shifts I take photos early in the morning so that I can remember what happened, when I get to the end of my shift.
Because at 2 or 3pm in the afternoon, 5am of the same day seems like a long time ago.
Today was full!
And it was scattered with many good moments including this one!
I do this for the job for the satisfaction I get from serving, but more so for the moments with staff, guests and those who have become good friends.
This is the real gold.

When I decided to embark on a career coaching professional surf athletes, I never imagined it would take me to where I am today.
I began working in the health and fitness space 19 years ago as a Personal Trainer, after my first husband passed away as a result of melanoma cancer. My strong belief in preventative health, rather than reacting after a diagnosis, is was what drove me to become educated on deeper level about human movement and human health.
At the time of his passing, I had two children and now have a blended family of six children and two grandchildren.
I have been passionate from the outside looking in as a surf spectator all my life, but a long held fear of fish kept me from learning to surf until my late 40’s. I learnt to surf and to swim to get the job as a Surf Coach at URBNSURF, where I have coached for the last 3 ½ years.
I am now an Intermediate surfer and concurrently work as a Chek Practitioner – a corrective exercise coach and holistic lifestyle coach – and a Surf Coach at URBNSURF.
My professional focus is on helping athletes find the courage it takes to build a career inside and outside of surfing while preserving their passion for the sport. As well as elevating surfers to their peak performance with customised physical & mindset coaching using Chek and DNS methods.
In reality I am the ultimate surf frother living the dream of surfing every day and coaching surfers.

One per cent
The difference between winning and losing.
Sometimes that one per cent is the decision to paddle but not go on a wave, or to paddle and charge.
Professional surfers like you, strive for continuous improvement and look for ways to gain a competitive edge, even if it is a marginal advantage. The concept of one per cent suggests that these seemingly minor details, when optimized, can contribute to standing out among the elite athlete in surfing.
But do you know what your one per cent’ers are?
Let’s have that conversation and help you get clarity on your one per cent’ers. Go to the link and book a navigation chat with me.

Each of these people individually inspire me.
Collectively they lift me.
Days like today , when months of preparation in all departments come together, fill my cup to overflowing.

The Pro’s talk about the 1%.
It’s the very small things that people often overlook, that make a difference to your performance.
But are they actually the small things?
And do you know what your 1% ‘ers are?

When the WSL circus comes to town.
Whether it’s the Championship Tour, the Challenger Series or the QS, I get pumped.
And this last few weeks has been no exception.
I’ve been able to witness first hand the commitment, the drive and dedication athletes on the QS have been showing up with and giving to the WSL QS3000 that URBNSURF is hosting on Saturday.
And the frothing!
The energy is contagious.
But mostly I’m looking forward to seeing the families that come to support. Because as a parent, and Grandparent I know what we give to our kids and Grandchildren to support their passion.
They are our everything.
All the best to those competing on Saturday, but sending the love to the families who support their athlete’s dreams! knight24 kelcey
