This week of the 18/11/24 Kellerberrin Medical Centre closed its doors. Possibly one of the longest standing privately owned / run Medical practices in the wheatbelt. For 30 years it was the hub for work carried out at both the Kellerberrin Memorial Hospital as well as Aged Care facility ( Dryandra).
For over 22 of those years it was also a fully accredited medical practice.
To ALL the staff that served with Dr Van Ballegooyen over the years & to his loyal patients. You were his reason for caring for a community like only a special doctor can.
Thanks for ALL the messages, cards & support (especially over the last 14 months).
One of the areas last, multigenerational Rural Generalist General Practitioners pushed out by people that don't understand the complexity of the medical business.
Especially in a town with general practice, Hospital & Aged Care ( along with being in the zone for rescue services and RFDS).
Here's to a time when a Doctors word meant something ( a 🪞 for those who need it).
There's next steps, but this chapters closed.

MESSAGE FROM DR.VAN.
The Petition was submitted to council on 1/2/24.
334 Kellerberrin residents signed out of a total of 434 signatures. For those interested, please see the link to the agendahttps://www.kellerberrin.wa.gov.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Ordinary-Council-Meeting-Agenda-Thursday-8th-February-2024.pdf for this Thursday's OCM (Picture attached of page 36 pertaining to the petition). Despite claims made that "Council has never resolved to replace Dr Van Ballegooyen at any time". I still have not received written confirmation of my lease from council. Whilst at the same time I have been told in the September information session regarding my lease that they weren't going to renew it. Confused? Well I certainly am, so many questions for later this week.

Massive thanks to all those that have signed the petition so far, we are currently collating the covering info & petition to submit to the shire. The image is a copy of correspondence from Dr Van Ballegooyen as we had not updated since the last years pipeline. This correspondence should have gone out in a Kellerberrin household mail out today. Thank you. Kellerberrin Medical Centre staff.
