If you’ve noticed a dull ache or sharp discomfort on the outside of your hip, especially when lying on your side, walking long distances, or climbing stairs… it could be lateral hip pain. Commonly, it is now referred to as the gluteal syndrome, including the pathology of both gluteal tendinopathy and trochanteric bursitis.

Common Symptoms:
✅ Pain over the outer hip, sometimes radiating down the thigh
✅ Worse when lying on the sore side
✅ Discomfort with prolonged walking or standing
✅ Pain climbing stairs or getting out of the car

Load management is key! Complete rest is actually damaging:
✅ DO:
• Keep active with low-impact exercise (walking, swimming, cycling)
• Use a pillow between your knees when sleeping on your side
• Warm up before exercise and pace your activities
❌ DON’T:
• Cross your legs for long periods
• Sit with knees lower than hips for extended time
• Overstretch the outer hip – this can aggravate symptoms

How Physiotherapy Can Help:
• Identify the root cause of your pain
• Provide tailored strengthening programs for hip & pelvic stability
• Correct movement patterns to reduce strain on the hip
• Use hands-on therapy & education for faster recovery

Our physiotherapists assess the cause of your wrist pain, target weak or overloaded structures, and guide you through safe progression of exercises, from early mobility to full return to sport or work. Book an appointment at Kellyville (9672 6752) or Carlingford (9871 2022) today!

Wrist pain requires active rehabilitation through movement, strengthening, and gradual loading. This reduces pain and supports a faster return to everyday activities. Relying mainly on passive treatments such as rest, splints, or manual therapy alone can actually delay healing, prolong stiffness, and even worsen long-term outcomes.

Common causes of wrist pain:
· Tendinopathies
· Carpal tunnel syndrome
· Wrist sprains and ligament injuries
· TFCC (triangular fibrocartilage complex) tears
· Post-fracture stiffness or weakness
· Arthritis

These injuries commonly affect people who work at computers, lift repetitively, play sports, or have had a fall onto an outstretched hand.

Research published in the Journal of Hand Therapy (2021) showed that progressive strengthening and neuromuscular control training led to significant improvements in function and pain reduction in individuals with wrist tendinopathies and carpal instability. Pain and function significantly improve when rehab is tailored to an individual’s daily goals and includes sport-specific or task-specific training.

If you or someone you care about is experiencing pelvic floor issues after pregnancy or childbirth, book a session with one of our experienced women’s health physiotherapists at Kellyville (9672 6752) or Carlingford (9871 2022) — because recovery is possible, and you don’t have to manage it alone.

Pregnancy and childbirth put a huge load on your deep core and pelvic floor muscles — and even after birth, many women don’t realise how much these areas have changed until issues start to show up.
- Feeling disconnected from your core?

- Worried about abdominal separation, weakness, or pressure?

You're not alone — and you don't have to figure it out yourself.
At PPS Physiotherapy (Kellyville & Carlingford), our experienced physiotherapists help women rebuild strength, function, and confidence after pregnancy and birth.

We take the time to assess your recovery and guide you through a personalised plan focused on:
✔️ Safely reactivating your deep core and pelvic floor
✔️ Improving stability and postural support

Our experienced physiotherapists at PPS Physiotherapy can guide you through a tailored, evidence-based rehab program that gets real results. If you or someone you care about is struggling with ongoing back pain, we’re here to help. Book an appointment with our team at Kellyville (9672 6752) or Carlingford (9871 2022) today!

It’s a common fear: “If I move too much, I’ll make my back pain worse.”
But for the vast majority of people, the opposite is true. Physios can help you regain your movement, your strength, and your confidence!

💡 Movement is medicine.
In fact, physiotherapy is one of the most effective treatments for persistent and long-term back pain. It’s now recommended as a first-line treatment—before surgery, medications, or even scans.

Here’s what the research shows:
✅ Reduces pain
✅ Improves your strength and mobility
✅ Boosts your mood and mental health
✅ Helps you get your life back—without surgery

When people stop moving due to fear, their back muscles can actually weaken and begin to fill with fatty tissue. This can make the pain worse over time, not better.

But the good news? Exercise is safe—even for people with long-term, severe pain.
Some studies have even found it works better than surgery.

06/07/2025

Common running injuries such shin splints, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendinopathy, ITB syndrome, and runner’s knee are often caused by a combination of overuse, poor biomechanics, and muscle imbalances. Physiotherapists are highly trained in identifying the root cause of these injuries—not just treating the symptoms.
We will:
• Take a detailed history of your training load, footwear, and symptom pattern.
• Perform a biomechanical analysis of your gait and running form
• Test your muscle strength, joint mobility, balance, and flexibility
• Evaluate footwear and surface choices

Once the cause is identified, we use a combination of:
• Individualised strengthening programs to address muscular weaknesses
• Mobility and flexibility training to restore range in tight structures
• Gait retraining to improve efficiency and reduce strain on vulnerable tissues
• Gradual return-to-running programs to safely rebuild mileage
• Education and load management strategies to help you train smarter
Physiotherapy will aid your recovery, improve performance and prevent future injuries!
