If you or anyone you know is suffering from painful knees our team can help. Give us a call on 9871 2022 (Carlingford) or 9672 6752 (Kellyville).

Wear and tear on the knee is incredibly common, especially as we get older but there’s good news, how your knee looks on an X-ray doesn’t always match how it feels. A “bad” scan doesn’t automatically mean severe pain, and it definitely doesn’t mean surgery is your only option.

At PPS Physiotherapy, we see many people with degenerative knees respond extremely well to conservative treatment. Through targeted strengthening, mobility work, balance training and tailored exercise programs, physiotherapy can significantly reduce pain, improve movement, and help you stay active and confident. Most people find that consistent physio delivers real improvements without needing to consider surgery.

Surgery should only be discussed when pain and function remain poor after several months of proper rehabilitation. Even then, having built strength and mobility through physio gives you a far better outcome if surgery is eventually needed.

If your knees are feeling stiff, sore or unreliable you don’t have to put up with it. Physiotherapy is a safe, evidence-based and effective first step to getting you moving well again.

"PPS Physiotherapy comes highly recommended.
After the first initial interview, the physiotherapist is very systematic and professional in formulating a plan of actions in treating my ailment (right neck pain). After the treatment, she recommends three different neck exercises to relieve the muscular tensions around my neck area and to counter to occasional headaches arising from my neck pain.

Feeling weaker, slower, or less steady as you age? You’re not alone but you don’t have to accept it. After 50, activity levels plummet, and that fast-tracks muscle loss, reduced balance, higher blood pressure, and even anxiety and depression.

The good news? Targeted exercise is one of the most powerful “medications” for older adults. Strength and balance training can slash your risk of falls, boost independence, improve mood, and help you stay active for years longer.

If you’re worried about strength, pain, or confidence, our physios can build a safe, tailored program that rebuilds your body and restores your freedom. Book an appointment with our team at Kellyville (9672 6752) or Carlingford (9871 2022) today!

Do you really need surgery… or could physio fix this?
For many injuries like rotator cuff tears, meniscal tears, lower back pain, or disc problems, physiotherapy can be just as effective as surgery without the risks, the hospital stay the long recovery time, or the high costs.

In a lot of cases, surgery doesn’t fix the root issue, it just changes the structure. Physio works on improving how your body moves, loads, and heals so you can get back to doing what you love without going under the knife.

Of course, surgery is still necessary sometimes, but it’s worth knowing your options before you commit to something invasive.

If you or someone you care about is struggling with ongoing back pain, we’re here to help. Book an appointment with our team at Kellyville (9672 6752) or Carlingford (9871 2022) today!

Persistent back pain is experienced by 70-80% of the population at some point in their lives and 40% of patient who experience a sudden episode of back pain are at an increased risk of still having the pain for months and even YEARS later. It can have a huge impact on their mental state and overall health and function, with back pain being responsible for 12.5% of all sick days.

Many people think their only options are to live with the pain or go through major surgery on their spine and nerves to fix the pain. However, all recent clinical guidelines endorse physiotherapy to treat persistent low back pain. When participants who had persistent back pain were given an exercise program to do, their pain intensity decreased by 52.5%, their function improved in their day to day lives, AND their mental health improved compared to their counterparts who did no exercise at all and achieved no significant changes.

That’s why physiotherapy is recommended to be the first thing that sufferers of long-term low back should try even before scans, medications, or surgery. It is not only much cheaper and carries with less risks but also shown to be very effective in helping you return you to your normal function.
