Elska Care Animal Assist

AAT is a formal, structured set of sessions that helps people reach specific goals in their treatment. AAA involves more casual meetings in which an animal and its handler interact with one or more people for comfort or recreation. Elska Care Animal Assist provides animal-assisted activities (AAA) using the assistance from horses and dogs. Some of the tasks participants will be involved in included:

- How To Groom Horses and Dogs -
Spending valuable supervised time grooming a horse or dog can be such a great way to unwind and relax. It’s also a great way for self-reflection and awareness. A large portion of our time during sessions we engage in grooming the animals, this is invaluable in establishing connections and trust.

- How To Communicate With Horses and Dogs –
Horses and dogs use non-verbal cues to communicate with people. Participants will learn how to read these non-verbal cues and communicate effectively. This activity helps participants with listening, consistency, calmness, empathy, patience, boundaries and connections, boost interpersonal skills and strengthened teamwork abilities.

- How To Handle Horses and Dogs –
Once participants gain confidence and trust with the animals at Elska Care they can learn how to catch and lead them. Once those foundations are established, participants will have the opportunity to lead the animals through engaging obstacle courses. This activity is great for building leadership skills and gaining confidence. Our team consists of myself, Nicole McCartney, who is very passionate and has great empathy for those who seek our offered Animal Assist program. My amazing partner and best friend The Magnificent Mandela (horse) and my three beautiful dogs Shelby, Zues and Ricky. Our goal at Elska Care Animal Assist is to create a harmonious space for participants to enjoy the many benefits of animal therapy. To care for one another, to cultivate new experiences and to cherish memories made. Our programs are offered to adults and children (10+) seeking animal assisted activities. Are you funded by NDIS?
