SKIN research project

SKIN research project We are looking for individuals to participate in our melanoma early detection research project starting early 2017. Our project is recruiting now.

Skin cancer, in particular melanoma, is a serious health burden in Queensland, Australia where residents have one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Melanoma is often cured when it is detected before it embeds itself deeper into the body, thus early detection is thought to improve melanoma survival prospects. Researchers from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in partnership with Fotofinder PTY, the Princess Alexandra Hospital Research Foundation (PAH-Foundation), the University of Arizona and Melanoma Patients Australia want to reduce the burden that melanoma has on the community. One way to do this is to assist adults improve their skin screening behaviours. The purpose of this project is to test whether mobile dermatoscopes can help assist consumers conduct home skin examinations to detect potentially cancerous skin spots or moles. We are looking for Brisbane, Queensland residents male and female who are 18 + years of age to participate in our research project. Please register your interest with our researchers at skin@qut.edu.au
