Durri ACMS Staff Taking on the Knockout Health Challenge!

We’re proud to share that 37 staff members from Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service (ACMS) are currently taking part in the 10-week Knockout Health Challenge – and they’re already in Week 3!

This challenge is more than just getting active – it’s about leading by example. At Durri, we saw this as a chance to practice what we preach to our community and show our commitment to healthy lifestyle changes from the inside out.

Over the past few weeks, our team has been:

🚶‍♀️ Going on daily walks
🥗 Sharing healthy meals prepared by the group each week
🧠 Joining in weekly “Walk & Talk” sessions with our psychologist Pete
🤝 Connecting with external services to strengthen partnerships and referral pathways
🗣️ Sitting in regular yarning circles to check in and share around cultural, social and emotional wellbeing
🏋️‍♀️ Smashing out weekly gym sessions with our Exercise Physiologist Jade onsite and with Fortify Your Health offsite

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive – not just in-house but from the community too! Staff have shared how these activities are helping them feel healthier, more energised, and more connected to each other and their work. It’s been a great way to break up the day, boost morale, and build resilience together.

While this is a 10-week challenge, Durri sees it as just the beginning. We’re committed to continuing these practices long-term to foster a healthier, stronger workplace – one that champions social and emotional wellbeing for all our staff and community.

Here’s to walking the journey together – one healthy step at a time! 🌟

Expression of Interest: Share Your Story at the Social & Emotional Wellbeing Conference

Dates: 18–19 November 2025 Location: Dunghutti Country

We are calling on our community to share stories of strength, healing, and resilience for our upcoming Social and Emotional Wellbeing Conference this November.

Storytelling is at the heart of who we are as Aboriginal people. For over 60,000 years, we have passed down knowledge, culture, and truth through our voices, our memories, and our hearts. Now, we invite you to be part of this tradition by sharing your story in a way that speaks to you—whether through audio, written word, or video.

What kind of stories are we looking for?

We welcome stories that reflect the many ways our people show resilience and courage. These might include:

Overcoming addiction or hardship
Achieving a childhood dream—on the sporting field or beyond
Reconnecting with culture, language, or Country
Navigating grief and loss with strength and dignity
Or any personal journey that reflects the spirit of survival and hope
Why share?

Because every story matters. Every voice adds to the collective strength of our community. Your story could inspire someone else to heal, to dream, or to reconnect. We believe in walking together, and storytelling is one of the most powerful ways we do that.

How to express your interest:

If you’d like to share your story, please submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). We’ll support you through the process—whether you want help recording, writing, or filming your story. We can also deidentify your story if this is an option you would like to also have with sharing your story.

EOI submissions close: Friday 17th October 2025 Submit to: simone.smith@durri.org.au Need support? Reach out—we’re here to walk alongside you.

Let’s honour our stories, our people, and our strength. We are the best storytellers in the world—and now is the time to share.
